  • Albuquerque

The Duke City is full of fun stuff to do that isn’t going to cost you an arm and a leg. The one place that we enjoy and have come to find a fail-proof venue is the ABQ Bio Park. This place is loaded with stuff to check out. There is the zoo to visit that isn’t going to be too crowded during the month of February. The animals are sometimes really active during the cooler months. Along with the zoo is the Botanical Gardens. Instead of a dozen roses, take your sugar to look at all the beautiful flowers, trees, and fauna the park has to offer.

There are plenty of things to do in Albuquerque, New Mexico this Valentine’s Day and you can grab a room at Residence Inn by Marriot.  It’s a great place to stay whether it’s the whole family or just you and that special someone.  If you stay at Residence Inn you can still cook your sweetheart a special Valentine’s Day meal because they not only feature spacious studios but a kitchen with a ull-sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, and coffeemaker

  • Taos

Taos has always been known for its nice ski slopes and artsy feel. There is a spot just outside of Taos, a 15-minute hike down Tune Road. It’s the Manby Hot Springs that are a steamy 97 degrees and is open year-round for visitors to enjoy. It’s a great way to unwind and get steamy with your special someone. The crisp weather makes the brisk hike lovely and ending with a hot soak in the springs is perfect for an intimate, and free, V-day. As locals say it, “Clothing is optional” yet I’m sure they ask you to keep it classy.

Carlsbad Caverns

  • Carlsbad

Most people think of the Carlsbad Caverns when they hear the name and for good reason. For only ten bucks, you can take a hike into what is believed to be the largest cave system in the world! You can choose the long walk to the big room with a guided tour, or venture out on your own.

Just be sure to pack some water, a sweater, and some comfy shoes. Later in the evening, if you want to catch a flick, but want to avoid the crowds, noise, and annoyances of the theater, then head to the Drive-In. There are three separate movies that play and the show start once the sun goes down. Take your drinks, snacks, and lawn chairs to enjoy a movie in a different scenery.

  • Four Corners

Up in the North West corner of New Mexico you’ll find a bunch of history. If you have always wanted to be in two places at once, this is what you’ve been waiting for. Take your honey bunch to the Four Corners Monument and put an arm in Colorado and Utah, with a leg in New Mexico and Arizona. It’s a picture perfect moment and something you can brag about to whomever will listen. Take a picnic to the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings north of Farmington. The driving trail, goes along the ancient ruins of the cliff dwellers and the scenic route is breathtaking. Hold hands and take in the beauty of northern New Mexico.

  • Ruidoso

Feel like something a bit more exciting, for your date than museums and picnics? Head to the Inn of the Mountain Gods just outside of Ruidoso, or hit the casino at Billy the Kid in the Downs. There are tons of penny and nickel slots that will keep you playing for hours without blowing any cash. If you feel like grabbing a bite, the restaurant serves excellent food and always has awesome drinks specials and happy hours. If you’re in the Downs, why not watch some horse racing while you’re at it?

The Ruidoso Downs race track doesn’t have live racing until the summer, but they do offer a simulcast of all the races going on in the nation. You can bet on your favorite pony or just watch the majestic animals run, either way, it’s a great time for you to have a fun competition.
