Austlen has parent employees that know the daily struggles of being parents, which is why they keep on striving to bring the best of their products to life, to give parents more freedom to learn and grow with your children.
Austlen Baby has given us such a great product to review, so this post is going to be the best and the longest out there! We got to review the Austlen Entourage stroller, plus accessories which was a parent cup holder, plus toddler tray. Now as a parent you think that when you have your first child, they may be your only child or just happen to expand your family later on right? Well Austlen is a family brand, they know that sometimes you expand your family, and your hearts. When you have your first child you don’t think about the future right? Okay so maybe some of you do, but most of us don’t! So you go out and buy that very expensive single stroller that you must have! (I will admit I personally would love to just buy the stroller of my dreams.) You get a good year or so use out of it then BAM! Another baby is here before you know it, so now you got either a toddler or a child under maybe 6 years old (50 lbs), now that perfect stroller you received or bought is not longer 2 child friendly. Heck maybe your first child was multiples! So now you got little ones and a single stroller seat that you absolutely love, and do not want to throw it away (not literally), because now you got to go and buy a double stroller that can accommodate your family now. Well that’s a drag right? Who wants to do that? There really isn’t any double strollers out there that have that perfect stylish, cool looking contour colors right? Or maybe not the one that best suits your family needs? We get it, most of us do, some maybe not yet. Well we got the perfect stroller for you, that might not be too budget friendly (to most parents), but once you see the specs and great versatile options, you’ll be begging your partner to go out and buy it!
Meet the Entourage stroller in Navy. The only single to double stroller you will ever need! (adapters, accessories and second seat sold separately.) The Entourage comes with the stroller seat, market tote, lower storage area for extra storage, baby bumper bar, and 2 rear tire fenders. As a single’s mode the Entourage can hold up to a whopping 150 lbs of baby and or cargo/storage! Now this isn’t your typical single stroller mode, this baby has lots of really cool specs (lots of pros and maybe 3 cons.) When in singles mode I love that the Entourage has over 30 (I counted maybe 39) different configurations available. So maybe really only like 13 total, but you can adjust the length and the type of accessories using at the time that make up 30+ configurations, and we will get into details on that in a bit. In retracted mode (meaning no extra length, original length ), you have the option to use it as a travel system, stroller, second seat, sit & stand, platform rider (stand only), w/ market tote, or cargo bag, so there you have 7 configurations available. Now as a single you can adjust the length to “intermediate” or “fully expanded” if you will. So now you can have all those 7 configurations turned into 8 with the 2nd infant seat (while in fully expanded mode only), with some extra length. Now as a double you can have it as a, double travel system (2 infant seats), 1 infant seat in the front and 1 in the back, then you can add the infant seat and sit & stand, or infant seat with platform rider (while infant seat is in the front), or infant seat in the front and toddler seat in the back, but lets not get into that. Maybe some other time. But before we (I) forget, another very favorite part about the Entourage as a single (or double) is that the front toddler seat can be transformed into a bassinet! All you have to do is adjust the adjustable foot rest (which I may have forgotten to mention, will get to that later), upward and locate underneath the footrest cover to enclose the foot rest, there are 3 small openings along the inside of the toddler seat, locate them and fasten them. Be sure to always secure the bassinet part to avoid your child to slip through the openings. So the front toddler seat has a 2 point height adjustment, 1 for bigger toddlers, and one for smaller babies who’s legs dangle too much over the edge. Super cool if you ask me, and a “3rd” adjustment that doesn’t lock into place, which would be the bassinet part, but it does get secured through the velcro attachments! The 2nd seat however does not come with a foot rest or anything just a angled leg support.
We can use our Entourage we received as a single, double (2 toddler seats), single w/ cargo, single w/market tote. So not much configuration is available, and I would love to see both sections be able to forward face siblings or parent face (1st seat), or face out the 2nd seat. So lets finish talking about the stroller. Our stroller as a single can be used in “retracted, intermediate, fully expanded positions”, with or without the market tote. While using the Entourage as a double we cannot use the market tote while using the second seat as it wont fit properly. The great specs available with the stroller, it comes with a large canopy with a pop up sun visor, with 2 mesh peak-a-boo windows at the top and bottom (the bottom one is hidden until its fully reclined), with magnetic closure (a must have as velcro wears out and is super loud when you have sleeping babies), 5pt harness with harness straps, rotating bumper bar (really does rotate out of the way), a 5 recline potion with a almost full recline (you can add a newborn), adjustable foot rest that you can strap to make it fully enclosed bassinet for a newborn, removable seat to wash, ball bearings for a smooth ride, and never flat tires. It also has shock absorbing dual suspension on the back tires, self standing fold (with fenders attached only), 1 step dual brake that is flip flop friendly (definitely brownie point bonus), adjustable handle bar (up and down only) for the perfect fit for tall or short parents, adjustable front seat expansion in arms reach (also used as a handle bar when you have the sit & stand or platform rider board), and it also has a parent wrist strap to keep the stroller from running away if you stop suddenly or forget to put the brakes on, and a anodized aluminum frame for long lasting usage. With a 1 year warranty, with proof of purchase at their approved retailers.
While using the Entourage, in “retracted” mode, it is super easy to maneuver, easy to adjust the front seat forward if we go out grocery shopping, because come on who wants to be pushing a stroller and a shopping cart both at the same time right? So it’s super easy to set up the bottom storage basket and market tote for quick shopping stops. While we also got the parent cup holder (can place anywhere, inside or outside the back frame), and a toddler tray, because we know toddlers or babies love snacking all the time, and a bumper bar wont cut it. And both the seat and 2nd set come with a 1 handed seat recline for easy use. Now using the Entourage still in a single stroller mode but in the “intermediate mode”, you still get that easy maneuver use, and this is the length you use when using the market tote at full expansion. Moving onto the fully expanded mode (which is used for the 2nd seat (in full recline when you need it) and or the 2nd infant car seat in the rear side) again all you do is pull the lever on the first (original) toddler seat and push forward, and now you got your full length double or single stroller for those extra necessaries! Did we mention you can even take the Entourage to the airport and fill all your luggage in the bottom basket up? Yeah that is pretty awesome! Now remember you can only have a total of 150lbs so make sure it doesn’t weight anymore.
Now lets move onto the Double Stroller part, as most of you guys are waiting anxiously for this one! You simply move the front seat up to the intermediate level (push it up 1) and when you get your second seat, you have to angle it maybe 140 degrees (I’m not good with math, but lets just say, it needs to be in a really low angle), facing you and you just slide it onto the inner adapters (already installed onto the frame, bonus points) and make sure you hear a clicking sound, once that’s done, use the back 1 handed lever and recline to use the 2nd seat. Now I personally do not like how upright of a recline the stroller is at, and the next recline setting is a bit too far back, so I would love to see something done about that! Another dislike I hate is that the second seat, you cannot add a accessory (like a child’s tray) at all! How is the other child going to eat their snacks? I feel like this was just not a concern when making the Entourage as a double, why does the front child get a tray/bumper bar but not the other child right? Well I came up with a half solution, buy the parent cup and attach it on the inside of the frame for your child to place their drink there! Of course mom/dad/caretaker might not have one, but you can always just buy another right? So super convenient, so parents remember buy an extra one! Now it doesn’t solve the tray part, but I am sure most parents might just buy a aftermarket item, until Austlen comes out with one. Both toddler seats come with a padded 5pt harness that can be turned into a 3pt harness if you wish. The harness cover is not removable so it is a bit difficult to tighten or loosen the harness, I love it and hate it. I love it because your child cannot mess around with it and fall down, I hate it because you cant take it off. A great feature is that both seats are washable! So that is super great for children who love making messes!
Austlen’s Entourage stroller has a huge under storage basket that can hold almost anything! And while using the high capacity storage basket with spring-loaded walls, you’ll be sure to be able to fit anything without the small stuff falling over. Just to give you an idea you can store a full sized ice chest, 2-3 diaper boxes across (length wise) or about 2 water bottle packages. And you don’t need to have the high-capacity storage basket if you rather not use it, if you’re planning on adding bigger storage just so you don’t accidentally break it. While using the Market Tote, there are 4 (2) hooks on both sides of the inside of the stroller handle, and 2 (1) hooks that go to the front of the stroller handles and that is where you can attach the market tote, now the market tote has a capacity of 35lbs which is still a lot of weight for a small storage basket. It has 2 mesh baskets for produce and other products, and a front pouch which I believe may be for frozen or cold products, but not positive!
When you want to fold the stroller, you can keep the second seat or the sit and stand (whichever you have at the time) and fold it right up without causing extra bulkiness or having to take it off to fold! So folding or closing the stroller is a breeze! (sort of, I am still having troubles.) So there are 4 “black lever” adjusters, 2 on the stroller frame and 2 next to the toddler seat. When closing the stroller you close the front seat first, then the stroller frame, and when you want to open the stroller you reverse the 2 steps. It is that simple! Now overall the stroller weight with just the stroller seat and lower storage basket weighs in at 32lbs (minus the bumper bar and canopy), now I know that is a lot and definitely is super heavy for that size of a stroller, but the good thing is that you can roll the stroller like a wagon if you have space to get by, otherwise you’re on your own. I had trouble just picking it up and my 3 year old weights more then that. Now for bigger cars like SUV’s or Mini Vans this is where the Entourage is your friend, when you have the fenders on the back wheels you can stand it up and slide it right to the bottom of the trunk and slide the stroller right in since it is roughly that height! Now that is cool, and to save that few extra inches, popping the tires off is a breeze and saves you some extra space!
Overall I really am impressed on the Austlen Entourage stroller. It is a great, easy to use, single to double stroller, or sit and stand type stroller for older children. I have no real cons or bad reviews, as the stroller hasn’t given me any problems and I love the overall designs the stroller has came out with! And Austlen just released (coming out this month actually; June) with their brand new Beach Wheels!! Anyone who lives near the beach and doesn’t have a stroller that can take on sand terrain, the Entourage is a must! So many cool products Austlen has come out with and I can’t wait to try them all out! The Entourage currently only accepts Cybex: Aton, Aton 2, Q, Maxi Cosi: Micro, Micro AP, Micro NXT, Micro Max 30, and Nuna: Pipa car seats for the front and rear frames. So you must get both type of adapters for both sections, and Austlen will be releasing a Chicco front and back adapter and a Britax rear adapter later in the Summer 2017. The Entourage can also fold with the front car seat adapters attached.
