The Easy Way To Teach Teens Scent Responsibly #SmellcomeToManhood

DISCLOSUREThe Easy Way To Teach Teens Scent Responsibly #SmellcomeToManhoodI am really excited to get this post going, becasue I had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with Patricia Heaton!  Yes, you know exactly who I’m talking about the wonderful women who star from The Middle, and my husbands favorite show Everybody Loves Raymond.  If you didn’t already know she has joined Old Spice for their “Scent Responsibly” Campaign along with The Mom Choir to help teach our teens how to “scent responsibly”.   Before we get started I wanted you to take a moment and check out this great video from Patricia Heaton and The Mom Choir to all of you who read Jenns Blah Blah Blog.  Take a moment, laugh a lot, and let me know what you think.  I just love the song, its fabulous!

Was that song not the cute song you have ever heard?  I just love it!  If you’re wondering what all this is about… Let me give you the rundown!

Patricia Heaton and The Old Spice Mom Choir from The Viral “Smellcome To Manhood ad campaign help launch Old Spices “Scent Responsibility” educational program to end the overspraying epidemic.  Oh, if you have ever experienced the overspray you know what I am talking about.  My nephew, WOW!  Most of you know my son has Cerebral Palsy.  Well, he’s getting to the age where he needs to “scent responsibly”.  Several a few months ago, my nephew, the worst oversprayer I have met (other than my brother growing) up decided to make sure my son was nice and scented when I went to pick him up.  WOW, I’m not even going to lie that was the longest 10 minute car ride home.  I had the windows down, nose burning, I know my eyes had to have been bloodshot, and at that point I understood why my husband gets so upset when he has to be in a room with a women wearing too much perfume.  It’s horrible, there is nothing cute about overspraying! NOTHING!

Thankfully Patricia and The Old Spice Mom Choir have joined forces to fight against the tragic overspray that continues to be a major issue among teens in the U.S.  With four teenage sons herself, this hits close to home for Heaton. She’ll be joined by the Old Spice Mom Choir, 10 real moms coming together to bring to life the songs heard in the much-buzzed about “Smellcome to Manhood” campaign – including “Momsong” which has 3.5 million video views in just five days.

Following last week’s popular “Smellcome to Manhood” campaign launch, the manliest grooming brand on the planet is announcing it’s taking a proactive approach to helping young guys “Scent Responsibly.”  Joining forces Old Spice, Patricia Heaton are introducing an awesome lineup of manly scented body sprays with an Old Spices NEW innovative and first in category Re-fresh Technology.  What is Re-fresh Technology?  It eliminates the need for guys to overspray at first application or reapply throughout the day. Yes, you read that correctly, using the new Old Spice Re-fresh Body Spray means “One Spray Lasts All Day.”

The official launch at The Grove will feature performances from a group of singing moms that hilariously illustrate how tough it is for moms to come to grips with the fact that Old Spice is spraying a man on to their sons – as seen in the “Momsong” clip from the brand’s new “Smellcome to Manhood” TV advertising campaign and Old Spice Re-fresh Body Spray product giveaways.

The Easy Way To Teach Teens Scent Responsibly #SmellcomeToManhoodLike I mentioned earlier I had the chance to chat with Patricia Heaton.  She’s a very sweet women, and I had a great time speaking with her.  One of my favorite things about her, is that I could tell right from the start that she is passionate about Old Spice.  I like that, because I personally can remember seeing Old Spice on my dads bathroom counter since I was itty bitty, my husband has used Old Spice for as long as I have known him, and now my nephew and son are both using Old Spice.

Patricia spent a little time telling me more about the Old Spice campaign, and why she was passionate about it.  I”m going to be honest, I didn’t know she has four boys who are all in that “Scent Responsibly” age group.  So she has been through it, and is going through it.  She’s definitely able to relate to, and believes in teaching boys how to “Scent Responsibly”, and I’m going to join her on that one.  Overspraying isn’t fun for the people around you, lol.  I think that’s why I love this campaign so much, it’s serious, but been brought to us in such a fun way.

She also told me a little about her boys and their overspraying experiences.  She said, “You know, their friends start wearing something, and suddenly it becomes cool.  The next thing you know you son is wearing it, and you walk by his bedroom and it smells horrible.  It’s too strong, and just too much.”  Oh, my this really took me back to when I was in highschool and my brother started to wear all the good smelling stuff.  It was horrible, now I know where my nephew gets it, lol.

If anyone of you are wondering, YES her sons do you Old Spice, and they are now practicing “scenting responsibly.”

I also asked Patricia to tell me about something her sons have done to inspire her, or just make her feel good.  She quickly admitted that she didn’t cook much, and when she did it wasn’t the best, it was edible, but not the best.  She said, her sons have always made her feel good about cooking for them.  She said, “It was so sweet.  They would eat everything I made, and even tell me thank you for making dinner for them.”  You have to appreciate that right.

I also asked Patricia what her favorite thing about being part of this Old Spice Campaign was, or if there was any crazy funny moments that stuck out.  She explained how much fun it is working with The Old Spice Mom Choir.  She said, “They are such talented women, and it’s so much fun watching them sing this fun song for Old Spice.”  After watching the video, I can only imagine how much fun they all had brining this campaign to life, and I personally don’t think they would have done a better job!

It’s a fun way to enlist kids in keeping the stench of boyman away :) Take it from the mom of a 13 year old boy who plays sports, I DO appreciate it!

Until recently, when I thought of Old Spice, I thought of men my 90-year old grandfather’s age. I didn’t even realize that there was a new collection of Old Spice products marketed to young men until my bf suggested we buy our 14-year old son an Old Spice gift set for Christmas this past year. When I replied “Old Spice” in a “You’ve got to be kidding” tone of voice, he said “Oh, you haven’t seen the commercial yet?” I still hadn’t seen it, until just a few nights ago. I tried to keep a straight face, but it was hard because I am SO the crazed mom depicted in the ads… I loved it!! But of course, its not just the comedic aspect of it I like… This newest line of products from Old Spice smells great!!
