If you have kids, you know all too well how difficult it is to clean a rug. This usually entails breaking out the carpet cleaning machine or pre-soaking, scrubbing and blotting until that dreaded stain is gone. With kids running around, who really has time for that? When Lorena Canals offered to send me a washable rug to review, I was more than excited to try it out.
Lorena Canals, designer and founder of the company, came up with the idea after watching her kids play on a rug. She began to wonder why children’s rugs were not washable. Canals did not give up on her idea and in 1990, Lorena Canals, the company was born. Several years after its creation, they began specializing in children’s rugs. The goal is to create stylish and comfortable spaces for kids while meeting the requirements of parents.
Lorena Canals rugs are designed with safety, eco-friendliness, durability, and easy maintenance in mind. Handcrafted using only the best raw materials available, they are machine washer safe. The rugs feature natural dyes and comply with all quality and safety regulations for children. Produced in India, the rugs sell in over 30 countries.
Lorena Canals is passionate about ensuring children in northern India have access to an education. They believe that education is a vital part of breaking the poverty cycle and living a better quality of life. When customers purchase a rug, they are also helping a child attend school. The Lorena Canals Sakûla project is just one example of their hard work and dedication. In 2008, the company built a nursery in Haryana. This nursery provides 120 children in the streets one meal a day, protection, and an education.
Lorena Canals offers a range of rug designs to suit every style and interior design theme. They are available in a host of colors, shapes, and sizes so customers can find one for every room in the home. All made from 100% natural cotton, they offer softness and comfort. Along with rugs, Lorena Canals carries blankets, baskets, and washable cushions.
I received the Numbers – Beige Rug and it also comes in pink and blue. It measures 4′ x 5′ 3″ and is handmade by Lorena Canals artisans. Lightweight, soft, and flexible it is suitable for the living room, nursery, or child’s bedroom. It has a beige background with white numbers 1 through 9. It has ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 and AITEX certificates. You can pick it up for $200.00 from the Lorena Canals website.
This rug is everything I had hoped for and more. It is amazingly soft and plush making it the perfect spot for my baby to sit and play. It also has a versatile style so that I can place it anywhere. For now, the rug is in my living room where Cali likes to play. When she is a little older, I will move it to her nursery. The quality and care that went into making this rug is very apparent. It is durable and I am confident it will provide us with many years of use and enjoyment. The best part? I can throw it into the washing machine when she gets it dirty! No more sitting on my hands and knees trying to scrub out stubborn juice or orange Cheetos Puffs stains. With so many great features, how could I not fall in love with this beautiful rug?
