The Olive Tap – Bon Appétit

It is so strange because I am of German heritage but I LOVE just about anything Italian, including Spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread with olive oil, bread dipping herbs and Aceto Balsamico di Modena. The Olive Tap has the best Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Bread Dipping Herbs I have ever tasted.

The Olive Tap generously sent me the “Little Italy Sampler” set of Bread Dipping Herbs, Tuscan Herb Olive Oil. Sicilian Lemon Balsamic Vinegar, Aceto Balsamico di Modena, and Italano Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Little Italy Sampler

Oh!  I was so excited when I received this package because I knew I would be in seventh heaven.  I immediately baked a baguette to try the Bread Dipping Herbs with the olive oil and Aceto Balsamico.   And I was right and trying to stay within my calorie count for the day, I only ate half the small loaf of bread.  I know what you are thinking!  A baguette is French – true but it too is one of my favorite things in life.  It could easily been a loaf of Italian bread but they are usually much larger than a baguette.

But let’s talk about the products rather than my choice of breads.   The Olive Tap works with producers from around the world choosing only the highest quality products including Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars, a variety of seasonings and gourmet food.     I thought the best way to talk about The Olive Tap was to give you a couple of recipes using The Olive Tap Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Vinegars.

 Farmers Market Pasta

Your favorite pasta
1 cup slice mushrooms
Olive Tap Garlic Olive Oil
Olive Tap Hot Pepper Olive Oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup asparagus or green beans, cut
1 cup cauliflower florets
1 yellow squash, sliced
1 red or green pepper, sliced
1 cup carrots, sliced or shredded
2 tomatoes, coarsely chopped
3 tbsp. flat parsley, finely chopped

Cook pasta “al-dente.”

Coat frying pan with Garlic Olive Oil. Add a few drops of the Hot Pepper Oil to taste. Saute onion for 2-3 min. Add mushrooms and saute 2 minutes.  Add asparagus/green beans, cauliflower florets, squash, pepper and carrots. Cover and cook 3-4 min. Add
tomato, and salt & pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
Serve over pasta. Top with parsley and Parmigiano and serve immediately.

The Olive Tap is family-owned and located in Illinois with eleven (11) retail locations across the country including Illinois, Ohio, Colorado and Florida.  Some local Farmers’ Markets during the summer months have items available but you need to check your own markets for availability.

Marie’s Italian Potato Salad

8 large red potatoes

2/3 cup The Olive Tap Italiano Extra Olive Oil

½ cup Champagne Pear Balsamic Vinegar from The Olive Tap

1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley

Boil potatoes for about 25 minutes. Drain, cool, and slice potatoes. In large bowl, combine Italiano, Champagne Balsamic, and parsley. Add potatoes and toss to coat.

Buon appetito,   Mario and his mother, Marie

There are several recipes at the web site using Beef, Chicken, Seafood, and Pork, Pasta as well as other specialties.  You can check those out at The Olive Tap, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube plus helpful hints and videos.

I think that even though we all are multi family heritages, we do have different taste buds liking a variety of different cuisines.  Can you imagine what it would be like to just eat one thing all the time – boring for sure.  Make sure you pick up The Olive Tap extra olive oils, vinegars and seasonings and enjoy them to your hearts content.  Bon Appétit

I enjoy Italian cooking. Years ago, every Sunday we would go to grandmas house for spaghetti and meatballs. Everything made from scratch down to the pasta. That was the best ever!

Wow I didn’t know u were from German heritage. My Mother was borne and raised in Germany and so I grew up eating a lot of foods. I also have always loved Italian food and I had started using that type of oil over a year ago and I really like and the benefits of it.

    Thanks for all

Italian food has got to be my favorite. The one thing I can make is a good meatball and spaghetti. I’d like to try these products. The packaging is nice too.
