Scared of the Dark? 5 Tips To Help Your Child Sleep Better At Night.

5 tips to help your child sleep better at nightWhen I was a little girl I loved collecting dolls & stuffed animals, I was also terrified of the dark. So keeping a light on at bed time was mandatory. As you know a lot of children are scared of the dark, my Niko being one of them, we always have a night-light on for him. There are several things you can do to help your child sleep better at night.

Scared of the Dark? 5 Tips To Help Your Child Sleep Better At Night,

Monster Spray – I recently bought a can of lavender spray, and tapped a piece of paper over the can that said “Monster Spray”. Every night before bed the kids will spray their pillow with the “Monster Spary”, and it’s helped keep the bad dreams away. Why? Because they now have the power not the monsters, and the lavender should help your child sleep better at night. Remember to tell them how powerful the “Monster Spray” is, and they only need a little, lol.

Bath – Right before bed give them a bath with lavender bubble bath. Taking a warm bath often helps to relax them, and the lavender helps them sleep.

Read to them – I have found reading them a book before bed helps them sleep better. If you are lucky they will be sound asleep before the book is over.

Sing To Them – Sing them a song that they enjoy. Spending time with your child before bed doing something they enjoy, that is relaxing, will likely help your child sleep better at night.

The Ultimate Nightlight – Finding the right nightlight will likely help you child sleep better at night. There are plenty of night lights out there, it’s all about finding the right one that makes them feel safe. Over the years, during our search for the ultimate nightlight, we have been through so many it’s almost unbelievable, so the product I chose from is perfect! Assuring my kids have a peaceful night’s sleep is a priority. If they don’t sleep well I don’t sleep well. Of course, when the kids have a peaceful night of sleep, everything in the house hold runs smoother!

Both my Niko & my seven month old little Miss Novalee share a bedroom, as I mentioned my Niko is one of those children that is scared of the dark and he will not fall asleep without a nightlight. Although he has his nightlight he still wakes up at times crying and yelling for me to check under his bed or in the closet. I hope now you can understand why we have been through so many night lights. We even tried using one of those water falls with light & music to help my Niko to relax, but all that did was keep him up having to use the rest room all night, so we went back to his Spiderman nightlight.

Since both my kids share a bedroom, baby Novalee has become attached to the nightlight too, this is why I decided on the Cloud B Tranquil Turtle from Sweetbottoms Baby Boutique. I figured I would get two birds with one stone and satisfy both kids. These turtles become a night-light, and a source of calming peace when your children go to bed. The Tranquil Turtle is Like being in The Ocean without getting wet. These turtles are so relaxing, it even gave me a feeling of peaceful calming while lounging on a beautiful beach in the middle of nowhere. Take a look at this wonderful Tranquil Turtle,

The first night I put it in the room Niko said “this turtle is a baby toy!’ Well, needless to say it was one of the best nights sleep he had in a while. Before we had the Tranquil turtle I could hear him tossing & turning throughout the night. We have had this awesome turtle for two weeks now and both my kids are sleeping so good through the night. The only time I hear Niko moving around is to push the button to extend the time for the ocean waves. Here are some of the things Niko & I love about this Tranquil Turtle,

  • Soothing melodies

My kids always ended their days with me or my husband next to their bed reading and praying together. Each of the kids went through a short phase in which they were having fears, in our home this wasn’t really a big issue. When they would go through it, we would play worship music through the night.

Those are all good ideas. I think most kids are afraid of the dark at some point. I had to laugh at the sing to them tip. I am so bad at singing, my kids would have been afraid of me too.

For me it was never the dark as much as whatever was under the bed, anytime of day, even into my early teens. I would never just get out of bed – I had to leap away from it so me feet landed a few feet away so whatever it was couldn’t grab me!

I just adore the Lavender Monster Spray solution for scared children at night. I’ve never heard of this type of solution. I also favor the turtle night light a lot. I always read to my child at night and he had a nice warm bath too. What won’t we do for our kids?

  • tamra gibson

How cool!!! I’m not afraid of the dark but I could think of many other things to put it too good use such as a romantic night or if I wanted to go to the bathroom BY MYSELF yet have some light-lol. I do feel so bad for kids or anyone that is afraid of the dark it would have to be
