I am working on losing weight. I was doing so well, then the doctor put me on this medication that made me blow up like a balloon. So here I am trying to lose weight, but I am trying to do it the right way, so I don’t gain it back. There’s a lot of diets out there that produce results, but they are only temporary. One of my favorite things to add to my yogurt is granola, or fresh fruit right in the cup. It’s an amazing way to change it up, still eat something healthy, and for me it’s great for my sweet tooth. Not to mention there is a variety of yogurt. So if you’re losing interest with a certain flavor, switch it up there is so many to choose from it will never get boring. It doesn’t for me anyway! When a recipes calls for cream cheese, Mayonnaise, Oil, Butter, or Sour Cream you can replace it with yogurt! Check out these 10 things you can make with yogurt, and tell me they don’t make you want to jump up and start cooking.
10 Things You Can Make With Yogurt
- Moms Yogurt Coffee Cake – First you will preheat your oven to 350, butter and flour your 9 x 9 baking pan.I always start with making the topping, it’s super easy. Grab a small mixing bowl and combine ¾ cups chopped nuts, 2 Tbsp. flour, 2 Tbsp. warm honey, and 2 tsp. cinnamon. The cake is also pretty easy. Grab your electric mixer and cream ½ cup of butter. Then you will beat in ½ cup of warmed honey, and 2 large eggs. In a medium mixing bowl whist 1 1/3 cups of flour (white whole wheat flour is amazing), 1 tsp. baking soda, ½ tsp. salt. Beat portions into the butter mixture, alternating with the 1 cup of plain low-fat yogurt. Then beat in the 1 tsp. of vanilla extract.
Now for the fun part, pour only half of your batter into your pan. Next you will add the remaining cake batter, and top with the topping. Then cover using half of your topping. Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until cake is toothpick done.
- Yogurt Pops – Use 8 Ounces of low-fat plain old yogurt, 6 ounces of unsweetened juice, choose your favorite flavor, and a dash of vanilla extract, or you can also use honey. In a medium mixing bowl combine all your ingredients, and pour into little 3-4 ounce paper cups, and place in freezer for about one hour, or until partially frozen. Then insert your sticks, or I also like to use plastic spoons, and finish freezing.
- Guacamole Dip – This one is super easy! All you need is 2 avocados, ½ cup of your favorite salsa, 2 clove garlic minced, 1 tsp. of lemon juice, ¼ c plain yogurt, and a dash of salt. Remove the pit from your avocados, and get the pulp out using a spoon, in your mixing bowl mash the avocados, add the rest of your ingredients, season to taste, and mix well.

My favorite yoghurt recipe is a sugar-free breakfast muffin with yoghurt, I found at http://www.thetastycompanion.com/2/post/2012/02/mos-meusli-muffins.html (although they forgot the flour – 2 cups, and I don’t put the sugar – just a bit o f honey). Also great as cookies.
