Being part of the military comes with sacrifices and can be stressful, but can also build positive relationships and pride. Both my husband and I come from families who have served, are serving, and plenty who will likely end up in the military once they are old enough. My husband and I are the house on the blog that you’ll see the American Flag up 24 hours a day, seven days a week! 13 Ways To Support Our Veterans, Soldiers & Their Families
If there is anything I believe in it’s supporting our troops (past, present, and future) and their families in any way we can. My husband and I do several things monthly to show our support for our troops and their families. Are supporting our troops and their families and honoring our veterans? The best thing we can do for our veterans, soldiers and their families is show our support. There are several small things we can do to show our support.
- Frequent Flier Miles – Did you know you can donate your frequent flier miles? Yes, you most certainly can to places like Hero Miles. Donated miles can be used for soldiers in the military who need to return home for emergent reasons, spouses for family members visiting wounded soldiers, etc.
- Community – Get involved in the community. There are so many ways you can support our Veterans, soldiers, and their families. Get in touch with places in your community, show up to events, donate time, money if able, and help in any way possible. Start asking around in your community.
- Time – Time is one of the most valuable things we can offer, and there are several great groups you can give your time to.
- Books – You can donate to Books for Soldiers.
- Homes For Our Troops – Whether it’s time, building supplies, land or monetary donation Homes For Or Troops is a great way to show your support.
- Operation Uplink – Donate money, so service people and veterans who have been hospitalized have ways to call home. Your contributions go toward phone cards.
- Operation Shoebox – Donations buy snacks, toiletries, and stationery.
- United Services Organization – Donate $25, which will be used to send car packages to our troops.
- A Million Thanks – Emails and letters of appreciation are collected for our troops.
- Cell Phones for Soldiers – Donate old cell phones to pay for calling cards.
- Flag – Hang an American Flag outside your home. Searching for flagpoles for sale and hanging it outside your home is an awesome way to show your support to the men and women serving our country.
- Cars – There are bumper stickers and stickers which say thank you to our vets, soldiers and their families.
- Say it – When you see a veteran, soldier or their family member tell them thank you for all they do for us and our wonderful country.
