16 Awesome Things To Do In Orlando, Florida

by Jenn

We already know there are awesome places like Universal Studios, Disney World In Kissimmee, and that Orlando nightlife is awesome.  The first two years we visited Orlando we only visited the big parks, like Universal Studios, but the past few years we have focused on other things to do in Orlando, Florida and surrounding areas.  There is TONS of things to do in Orlando!  I honestly do not have any idea how one would ever get bored living in the area. I cannot tell you how much I would love to pack up my belongings and move to Florida. We have two more years before we get serious about moving, and I cannot wait!

We are waiting for our oldest daughter to graduate from highschool before we begin thinking about moving to Florida.  Thankfully, the other children are still young enough that the move will get them excited.  We recently got back from our Disney Cruise, which was amazing.  One of the most magical experiences I have experienced yet.  If you have thought about taking a Disney Cruise I highly recommend it.  I was honestly surprised how affordable it actually is, becasue everything is paid for!  It was an awesome experience, be sure to be on the lookout for the post.

If you are traveling to Florida, and the looking for things to do in Orlando here are a few things we have enjoyed, or are planning on doing.  I hope it helps you add a little fun to your vacation.

Gatorland

If you have not been to Gatorland, GO!  It’s an awesome theme park with the world’s very first line to race above giant alligators and crocks.  Yes, be sure to check out their Gator Zip Line, it’s awesome.  One cannot visit Florida and not stop by to see an alligator or crocodile, right?  You will see more than alligators and crocodiles Gatorland.  They have an awesome nature walk, reptilian shows, Florida panthers, a petting zoo and more.

Disney’s Boardwalk

Stroll along Disney’s Boardwalk, it is pretty, fun, and a nice way to relax.

Kennedy Space Center

If you want to see something amazing, be sure to swing by Kennedy Space Center.  There is so much to see, take in, and learn.  My oldest daughter loved visiting the Astronaut Hall of Fame, but there is so much to see and do, especially if you don’t want to do the whole rollercoaster thing anymore.

Ride an Airboat

I still have not done this, but I want to.  Doesn’t it sound like a blast, jumping in an airboat and checking out all the awesome animal-themed attraction?

Paddleboard

Something a little different that my husband really wants to do is paddleboard.  It looks like a blast, and I will give everything one shot.

Visit the Beach

If you live in the dry lands of New Mexico like we do, than it just isn’t right to head to a place like Orlando and not at least visit the beaches.

Indoor Skydiving

I am far to chicken to ever really skydive, but I can do the indoor skydiving.  I think this is one of my husbands favorite things to do in Orlando.

Safari Wilderness Ranch

My kids love visiting the Safari Wilderness Ranch, it’s a unique experience with plenty to do, and it’s easly to lose track of time while you are visiting the 260 acres of wilderness in awesome safari vehicles.  Don’t worry they have canopies for shade, and it’s super fun.

Dinosaur World

I don’t know who likes this place more – my husband or my son.  This is a 20 acre theme part that is located outside of Orlando, but it’s worth driving to see.

Ripley’s Belive it or Not!

I don’t care where I am, if there is a Ripley’s Beleive it or Not! I am there!  If you have not been to one yet, be sure to visit.  They are fun, and you will learn all kinds of strange, amazing, outrageous things.

Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Gold

It doesn’t get much more fun than a game of glow-in-the-dark mini golf!  Be sure to swing by and play a game or three, it’s fun, and a totally different experience.

Zoo and Botanical Gardens

I love the Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens.  Enjoy more than 23 acres of gardens, and 400 animals.  There is plenty to do at the Zoo.

Titanic The Experience

Titanic The Experience is located right by SeaWorld and Universal Studios, so it’s super convenient if you are planning a day at SeaWorld or Universal.  Check out the re-creations of the ships most famous rooms, like the boilers, grand staircase, and more.  This really is a neat experience, and worth checking out.

Marine Aquarium

Who can visit the Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Orlando without visiting the aquarium?  Not me, and the Marine Aquarium is great.  Whether you want to see sea turtles, sting rays, dolphins, or a world-famous dolphin show they have it.

Exotic Driving Experience

We have not done this one yet, but my husband wants to drive or ride in an awesome supercar around the course at Walt Disney World Speedway.  Cool right

Disney Cruse

If you follow us on our social outlets you might have seen pictures from our recent Disney Cruise!  It was a blast, and I was amazed at how affordable it actually was.  When you buy your cruise package it actually comes with everything you’ll need on the boat.  There are a few extras you have to pay for, but if you didn’t want to spend a dime on the ship, you wouldn’t have to. Shawn and I will be taking another cruise now that we know how things work.

What are some things you enjoy doing in the Orlando Florida area?
