We all have something we can contribute to our community! Whether it’s money, time or something else Bakken Honorees knows that everyone has something they can contribute, and there is no better time than right now to take that step.
I’m a firm believer it giving back and paying it forward. If we ever have too much of anything, it’s just the right thing to do. Now, I know we don’t all have too much money or food to eat, but I think we can all spare a little time for even something as small as a tweet to let others know about an awesome program such as the Live On Give On program.
Gosh, there are so many people to be inspired by on the list of 2015 Bakken Invitation Honorees! I don’t feel right choosing only one to be inspired by because they all inspire me for different reasons.
Kerry Kalweit took her second chance at good health and went after her dreams. She enjoys spending time with a nonprofit organization Youth with Diabetes. Learn more about Kerry here.
Andrea Volfova is 37 years young with cardiovascular disease and now with a pacemaker has managed to not only work at her dream job but study at some of the world greatest universities. She received her bachelor’s from Harvard in the US and Masters from London School of Economics and Political Science in the UK. She too enjoys donating time to children who are in similar situations. Learn more about Andrea here.
However, at the end of the day, nobody inspires me more than my nephew Corbin did. If you have followed us for a while, you’ve likely heard his story and for those of you who have not he was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, had two major heart surgeries by six months and his third after he turned three years old. He was such an amazing, smart, loving child. I feel blessed to have been able to know him, to this day he reminds me what life is really about.
It’s not about the money, the fame, or even what people think of you. At the end of the day, it’s about love, smiles, laughs, time for those you love and the things you love and giving back in some way.
I could go on and on with inspirational stories from the wonderful honorees but what I have told you is only a summary of their fabulous stories. I wish you would swing by and show your support by reading their stories and let us know which one inspired you the most.
