Special Sweets that You Won’t Want to Share with the Kids
When the Orange Glad box came in the mail I fully intended on sharing the treats that were contained inside with my children. The problem came when I bit into the first bite of one of the cookies and discovered that these were not the typical cookies that I would feed my children.
Sometimes I love sweets but other times sweets are not quite my thing. In fact, most of the time I prefer salty treats as opposed to sweet treats any day. Each treat in the Orange Glad box was delicious and not the overly sweet treats that you would have expected when someone was sending you a box of treats. In fact, these were like a very grown up version of sweet treats that you just would not have expected.
This past month’s box which I received included the following treats which are all perfect for moms who want something that is dependent upon the mood that they are in.
For the Mom Who Needs a Snack–Cornology Chicago Style Popcorn
I have to be honest. I do not like caramel corn. Chicago style popcorn, for those of you who are unsure, is a mixture of cheese popcorn and caramel corn. I did eat a couple of the pieces of the cheese popcorn and it tasted high in quality and to be honest I was kind of shocked that it was prepacked and sealed. It tasted more like the type of popcorn that you would pick up locally from a specialty popcorn shop. Andrew (my 10 year old) did eat the Cornology and he really loved it. He actually said it was “the best popcorn ever.” Then he asked when I would buy him more and how I would get it here.
For the Mom Who Needs a Special Treat Too—OlaMola Confectionery Hazelnut Orange Meringue Kisses
Let’s face it as moms we are always giving our kids treats and most of the time we do not take the time to get a little special something for ourselves. When I saw these at first I was not excited because I am not a fan of most meringues that I have had in my life. To be 100% honest I have NEVER liked a meringue before but….I LOVED these little delicious bites. It was like I was being given a little morsel of perfect sweetness from Heaven when I ate them. Althea caught me eating them and to be honest I was a little bummed that I had to share. I would definitely purchase these again and was very pleased to see that they are available in the sweet shop online through the Orange Glad website (more about this at the end, I promise).
For the Mom Who Just Baked Cupcakes–Donsue m ore French Almond Cakes
I am not a fan of most cakes. I think that they are overly sugary and just too sweet. I am now a huge fan of these amazing almond cakes. They were moist and delicious and actually made me question how the texture could stay so perfect in something that was in a sealed package.
For the Mom Who Wants a Grown Up Cookie—Simply Sweet Cookies
I am not sure about this bakery to be honest as I could not find them online. Possibly they are owned by Orange Glad or something like that. However I will tell you that they made the BEST cookies that I have ever had in my entire life. I am not usually a huge cookie fan (thankfully since we have about 200 boxes of Girl Scout cookies after the accident). When I saw these I was very excited about the raspberry one and completely intended on sharing and giving the apricot one to my husband or one of the kids. I am not a fan of apricots so I thought that I could share….wrong! I could not share. I actually ate the apricot one and while not loving it as much as the raspberry I did love it too.
For the Mom Who Does Not Want the Donut—Simply Sweet Blueberry Cake
I am not a fan of blueberries so to be 100% honest I did not try this one. I did give it to the two older kids when they got home from school. Althea came running in when she finished her half and wanted to know where more was at so that she could eat more. Andrew said that it was much better than he expected and that we should have that for breakfast instead of muffins every day. They both really loved the cake and told me that it was great.
All in all the Orange Glad box is a great little monthly treat for anyone who loves having a sweet every now and again. I loved that the sweets were not overly sugary or sweet. They were the perfect balance of unique flavors with a hint of sweetness which made them delicious.
Best of all is the fact that the Orange Glad box is just $15 per month for the subscription. If you just want one specific treat some of them are available through the website where you can shop for treats that are featured in the boxes and more. I promise if you give Orange Glad a chance that you will love it just as much as I did and maybe even more. Plus the Orange Glad box and subscriptions make the perfect gift for that hard to shop for person that you never know what to buy.
