My kids know how to work my smartphone as good as I do. I allow them to play with my tablets, they have a laptop, and my oldest has a cellphone. In today’s world kids need to know about technology and be able to use all our gadgets and gizmos. It’s the world they are growing up in, and I think it’s our job as parents to try and help them learn how to use them.
My daughter Madisyn found a payphone the other day and had to stop and play on it. I almost fell out of my truck, I seriously don’t remember the last time I saw a payphone. She had to stop and talk on it lol. It’s crazy, payphones have gone away and cellphones are here to stay. It’s the world we live in, and we cannot rely on payphones at every gas station for our kids to call us when they are walking home from school.
My kids also walk home from school, and I always make sure my oldest daughter calls me before they leave so I know they make it home safely. The world is not as safe as it was when we were younger. I want my kids to have a phone, and be able to pick it up and call me if they need anything. I would rather be safe, and they never need anything. Than for them to need to get in touch with me and not be able to.
To buy a cell phone or not to buy a cell phone, it’s a question many parents are faced with these days. It’s not an easy one either, especially once you start laying out the pros and the cons. After going back and forth, writing down the pros and the cons my husband and I decided that we would get our children cell phones. To make our decision a little easier there are some great cell phone affordable plans available for kids such as Republic Wireless.
Did you know that many Americans spend more on their monthly cellphone bill than they do groceries or healthy insurance? WOW, right! I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that. I personally do not spend more on my cellphone bill than groceries, but there are 6 people in my home that eat. Don’t think that doesn’t mean I don’t pay a pretty penny on my cellphone bill, because I will be honest it’s one of the most expensive bills I have every month, after my house and car payments. Which is why I have been thinking about trying Republic Wireless for my daughter Vayda’s first phone.
Republic Wireless an Affordable Cellphone Plan for Kids
Republic Wireless want to provide their customers with an affordable cellphone plan. They have built a smartphone service that does just that! They have somehow managed to come up with a smartphone service that is affordable. For only $19 a month you get all the perks you would with a normal smartphone plan. All the texting, searching the web, and making calls you need.
If you are like me and wondered how in the world they were able to pull this off, I have the answer. Republic Wireless is able to offer this service due to something called Hybrid Wi-Fi Calling. It allows you to harness the power of Wi-Fi for calls, texts, and data while you have all the other cellphone capabilities.
The phones seems to be perfect for kids as well as many adults. The Motorola DEFT XT Smartphone has a front-facing VGA Webcam, rear-facing camera that has auto focus and LED Flash, as well as 4x digital zoom. It has an Android operating system with Wi-Fi and Sprint 3G Coverage with dual-band reception, and more than 450,000 apps thanks to the wonderful Google Play so many of us are familiar with, and 3.7 inch Corning Gorilla glass display. My favorite part is that it is dustproof, water and scratch resistant.
I am really thinking about getting Vayda her first smartphone for Christmas and have added Republic Wireless to my list of awesome cell phones for kids. I could add her to my current cellphone plan, but I would have to do the whole contact thing that many of us dread, especially when it’s for our kids first phone. I love the fact that there is no contract, and it’s only $19 a month.
Are you on the lookout for an affordable cellphone plan for you or you kids? If so you might want to consider checking out Republic Wireless. Here is a little video to help explain their service more.
