I love doing hands-on activities with the kids and the holiday season gives me so many opportunities to do just that. Our most recent project was building a gingerbread house. If you’ve ever built one, you know it’s not as easy as it seems. You construct your frame and very carefully start putting the roof on, only to watch the walls come tumbling down. After this happens a few times, you start feeling frustrated and that takes some of the fun out of it. Thankfully, Bee International Inc has a solution to this problem making the process stress free.
Bee International Inc has introduced gingerbread houses with a patented Link & Lock assembly design. The interlocking pieces fit together snugly and only a minimal amount of icing is needed. In fact, you only need around 1.6 ounces of icing to hold the walls together with these new gingerbread house kits compared to the 4.8 ounces needed with standard kits. The icing is even pre-mixed to speed up the process and eliminate some of the mess.
You can choose from kits containing traditional candies, kits with fun brands such as NERDS, SweetTARTS, Runts, and Bottlecaps, a Tootsie Roll kit, or even a kit featuring the popular preschool series PAW Patrol. The kits are available at retail stores nationwide through the holiday season. They are priced at $9.99 to $12.99.
This gingerbread house kit was definitely easier to put together than ones we have done in the past. It was so simple that my kids did almost all of the work. We also did not have to wait for hours as the icing dried, which is a huge plus if your kids are as impatient as mine.
I am not going to lie… I was trying to figure out a way to avoid posting a picture of our completed house. It is absolutely the ugliest gingerbread house I have ever seen and there’s no denying it. My 2-year old insisted on doing her fair share of the work and at one point, she even licked the icing right off of the house. As I was writing this however, I remembered the quality time we spent together and the laughs we shared as we built it. We made some wonderful memories and that is the most important thing.
