If you have young girls, you have probably heard of Star Darlings.  My daughters LOVE Star Darling and have recently been wishing someone would buy our house so we could hurry up and move into our new house.  Their wish came true, and I wanted to do something special to tell my girls.  I decided to surprise them with a DIY Star Darling Mason Jar Night Lights project.  Hey, there was glitter spray paint involved.  Plus, it’s going to be something fun the girls can use in their new rooms.  OMG, they are pumped about having a new bedroom and finally living in a country where they can ride their go-carts and horses and just be kids.

OMG, they are pumped about having a new bedroom and finally living in a country where they can ride their go-carts and horses and just be kids.  I wonder if those Star Darlings had anything to do with it.  You do know they are the ones responsible for making wishes come true, especially “Wishes for a New Year!”.  The Star Darlings series is all about the power of wishes. What are your family’s wishes for 2016? If you could grant a wish to anyone, who would it be for, and what would it be?  Mine would have been my kids wish for the New Year, and I’m thrilled everything worked out so quickly.  Life is good, and thanks to the Star Darlings, their wishes really do come true.

For the DIY Star Darling Mason Jar Night Light project, you’re going to need:

  • Mason Jars
  • Spraypaint (pink, yellow, purple, blue, white and glitter are what I used)
  • Star Darling: A Wisher’s Guide to Starland (for inspiration)
  • Solar tea lights candles

Okay, let’s break out the spray paint and glitter and have some fun with this DIY Star Darling Scarlet Mason Jar Night Light projects:

  • Using the glitter spray paint, spray one or two coats on the inside of the mason jar.  Allow the spray paint to dry between coats.

  • Next, give the inside of the mason jar a light coat of color and allow it to dry.
  • If needed, you can apply another thin layer of color.  Just keep in mind to work with thin coats so the paint doesn’t run because you can see everywhere the paint runs at night when the light is on.
  • Allow to dry, toss in a solar tea light candle, put the lid back on, and enjoy!

I made one nightlight for each book I received from Disney Press. I didn’t plan on making that many, but it was just so much fun to make them.  I love these types of projects; they always turn out so well, and I just know the girls will love them.

The Scarlet Mason Jar Night Light is one of my personal favorites.  I just love the glitter and pink, two of my favorite things.

Scarlet is a little different than the other Star Darlings, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t confident, extremely independent, and able to recognize the things she needs to work on.

Next up is another one I like, the Star Darling Mason Jar Night Light, which is super awesome!  It also looks best when the nightlight is turned on.

DIY Star Darling Vega Mason Jar Night Lights

See, I told you, it looks fabulous at night, right?  Imagine using it as your nightlight.  So much cooler than a boring one that sucks up electricity.

Leona is a confident Star Darling, and she wants to be a glittering pop star.  She shines when she is in the spotlight.

I know I said the first one was my favorite, but I’m having second thoughts, lol.  What can I say? I love glitter, and the Star Darling Vega Mason Jar Night Light is beautiful!

Vega is the brightest Star Darling in school, but only because she works harder than any other Star Darling in school.

The Libby Mason Jar Night Light is beautiful too.  I love how bright it is, but I’m still not sure which kid will get which nightlight.  I am starting to think I had better pick because they’re likely going to argue.

Growing up in a wealthy family, Libby has gotten everything she wanted, but somewhere along the lines, she managed to find joy in helping others around her.

The Disney Star Darlings launched in the fall of 2015 and are a stellar original property for tweens that answers the question of where wishes come from.  Star Darlings features a diverse variety of star-charmed girls who encourage and help others fulfill their heartfelt wishes and complete special training.  They have granted wishes as far back as anyone can remember, but with a new crisis brewing, the girls will soon be venturing to the plant earth, where they will work together, show courage, ingenuity, and, of course, a little humor while they share their adventure with you.

The Star Darling book series is aimed at kids 8 to 12 years of age and is by Ahmet Zappa and Shana Muldoon Zappa.  There are currently five books in the Star Darlings Book Series, which are:

  • Book 1: Sage and the Journey to Wishworld
  • Book 2: Libby and the Class Election
  • Book 3: Leona’s Unlucky Mission
  • Book 5: Vega and the Fashion Disaster
  • Book 6: Scarlet Discovers True Strength
  • A Wisher’s Guide to Starland

My kids love it, and if you have girls or know someone who does, I’m going to bet they will like it as well.

Vayda is currently reading the first book, Sae and the Journey to Wishworld and A Wishers Guide to Starland, because it introduces the Starlings and the positive energy-powered world that they live in.  The book is filled with 176 pages of information about the Star Darlings and the world in which they live.  Now and then I’ll look at this book, and before I know it, I’m reading up on different characters, lol.
