Dock a Tot is a comfy, docking station fashioned by Lisa Furuland as a solution to her own need for a more comfortable sleeping frame and support after having her first child. The dock a tot comes in two sizes, one for babies up to 9 months and one from 9 to 36 months. They are manufactured in Sweden. They have been around about 10 years now.
I love that this cushion is supported comfortable. It retains its shape well but also has a board to help reshape it back in case of anything. The material is breathable and safe for children, which we of course always want. They have this cool layaway program in case you can’t afford the price up front. It is not that expensive compared to other similar products which may be more tedious to lug around and may not be as comfy for you baby. Based on the reviews it seems like babies really like the comfort and snugness that they sleep longer. It is very versatile and will work for your child at two different stages. The dock a tot is made out of 100% cotton. The only drawback is that it is not waterproof so if liquid falls on this it can be trapped in the pad causing mold. To avoid this wash right away, which is made easy by removing the casing and placing in the laundry. The mat will have to be washed by hand.
We received the dock a tot grand in minty trellis style as my daughter is a year and a half. This was a great solution for us as a lounger and down the line will be a great aid to transition her to her own bed. During the early morning, my daughter likes to lay in it right after waking up when she is still sleepy but wants to be out of her crib. I especially loved it for the night time as usually, I read to both my kids but she moves around so much that I put her in her crib. She sometimes cries as she is not ready for bed yet. This time around I was able to place them both in the dock a tot and read to them together. The raised cushion helped her to just cuddle into it and relax prior to transitioning her to the crib. If my son was in bed she would just lay back and look at her books or I would read to her and stroke her hair while she relaxed. It made it easier to just have her relax then transition to bed without a fuss. As a baby, I can see getting more out of it or just use it earlier on.
