Now that fall has arrived, many parents (including me) are starting to think about Christmas and some have even started shopping. Each year new toys hit the market and it can be a daunting task trying to figure out which ones will keep kids entertained, hold up to regular play, and fit within the budget. Recently I had the opportunity to review two toys from Toy State and I am happy to say both had all the features I am looking for.

Toy State

Toy State has manufactured toys since 1984. The company works with automakers and Caterpillar to produce innovative “Light & Sound” and R/C toys that define the “State of Imagination.” Along with their flagship Rippers® and Nikko™ product lines, they also offer Caterpillar®, Hot Wheels™, WWE® and DC Super Friends™ toys. Over the years, Toy State toys have won various awards including the Creative Child – Toy of the Year Award. You can find the toys in store and online at Target, Wal-Mart, Toys ‘R Us, Kmart, and Amazon.

Thomas Stop & Go R/C

Your little one will love hopping aboard this Thomas & Friends Stop & Go R/C. It comes alive at the push of a button with its realistic noises and fun Thomas phrases. It even has a smoke stack that changes colors as it chugs along. The tethered remote controller is easy for little hands to grasp and with it, kids can make Thomas move forwards or backwards. It is battery operated (the batteries are included) and it is recommended for ages 3 and up.

My youngest loves anything with wheels and this is her first remote controlled vehicle. After her brother showed her that she could make it move without physically pushing it along, she was fascinated with it. Even though she is not quite 3, the remote was easy enough for her to figure out. She must have driven it up and down the hallway 100 times the first day we had it. It has crashed into the wall plenty of times as well, but has held up with no visible damage. I love that the batteries were included as this saves the hassle of searching for them.

Cat™ Jr. Operator Multi-Machines

The Cat Jr. Operator Multi-Machines are perfect for little ones who love building. The set comes with a machine operator and the pieces needed to build a bulldozer, wheel loader, or dump truck. The bolts stay attached to the pieces making it a safe choice for those little Cat operators. Kids can mix and match the pieces to create one-of-a-kind machines. Everything comes packaged in a reusable carrying case for convenient storage. This set is recommended for ages 3 and up.

My younger son loves taking things apart and putting them back together. Unfortunately, many of these things are never reassembled correctly. When I saw this set, I immediately knew it was the perfect toy for him. He could build whatever he could dream up with the pieces and take it apart over and over. The bolts staying attached to the parts is a HUGE plus in my book since we have a soon-to-be toddler that likes to put everything in her mouth.

My son is thrilled with this set as the machinery is easy to build and he can tear his creations apart without worrying about damaging them. The pieces are also durable and will hold up to his rough play. He has asked for more sets for Christmas so he can build bigger machines.
