Special thanks to Foldin’ Money for providing Karen with their product for this review.
In my attempt to find something new and creative to bring to JennsBlahBlahBlog, I ran across a web site, which immediately aroused my interest. It’s called Foldin’ Money. It is a design kit which instructs you how to fold money in creative ways to include in greeting cards or packages of all sorts. Recently, I had the privilege of reviewing one of the Star kits from Foldin’ Money.
Foldin’ Money officially got its start from an idea passed down from mother to daughter where origami money was used as gifts to family and friends. Prior to the creation of Foldin’ Money, Sue, the creator of Foldin’ Money suffered two strokes which left her speechless. Having a difficult time securing employment, her sister, Caren encouraged her to start an online business of selling the origami money kits. Voila, Foldin’ Money began.
Foldin’ Money offers various kits including the Star, Cake, Heart, House, Shirt, Tie, Tree, and more. The Foldin’ Money Kits are designed to work with either U.S. or Canadian currency. The instructions suggest the use of crisp, new bills of any denomination; however, I wanted to save myself a trip to the bank so I simply used what bills I had on hand, which were on the newer side. The new bills would probably create a sharper crease and more than likely, would fold easier, as well as, to retain its shape longer once folded into the various designs, but the bills I had on hand worked fine for my purpose.
The Money Star kit that I reviewed was super easy to use and only took approximately 10 minutes in total to complete. The kits include templates that you cut out, and by following the simple step by step instructions, you can create an amazing design in no time.
I wanted to send this money to my daughter, who has a birthday coming up soon, so I created a homemade birthday card for her, which included the Star.
While my artistic and imagination skills leave something to be desired, you can get the idea how these design kits can be dressed up. Of course, you can embellish the Star itself, by adding ribbon, buttons, or any other item of your choice. I just left the star plain, although I might go back and dress up the Star a bit with some rhinestones, or something of that nature before I mail the card. Of course, I would apply the embellishments to the Star with the double-sided tape as suggested on the instruction sheet.
Just remember, that the currency that you use in your design kit is legal tender for any goods and services you desire. Aside from using scissors to cut out the template, and the double-sided tape to hold your “master piece” together, the money is not altered in any manner.
Where creativity is the word in today’s world, almost anything goes. Wouldn’t you love to receive a card or package with one of these stylish creations included? I know, I would, and I know that my daughter will appreciate the homemade card I made for her, as well as the money in the card. These design kits can be used for Christmas, Birthdays, Graduation, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Wedding or Anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Customer Appreciation or Thank You, in addition to your own special event.
Why not get the “Jackpot Collection” and get 13 different designs. In the alternative, Foldin’ Money also offers a “Red Collection”, which gives you 4 different designs from which to choose, or you may purchase one design only. All of these kits are very economical considering you can re-use the templates over and over again. And, so that you don’t have to wait for delivery by mail, Foldin’ Money offers a full line of downloadable Design Kits.
