As many of you know back in February I began a healthy lifestyle journey. Today I’m approaching 35 pounds lost. This isn’t a journey I’m walking alone though. I have my friends and family to help along the way, but I also have many tools in my pockets as well. Recently I was introduced to one of those tools and it has been extremely beneficial. It is My FitU™. My FitU™ is essentially having your own personal trainer at home and since they have an iPhone App as well, anywhere you are, your personal trainer is too 24/7.
Daniel Meng is the genius behind My FitU™. He is a very successful fitness coach and also a personal trainer to celebrities. Among his clientele are Kenny Chesney, whom he continues to work with today, Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus, and Jake Owen. Daniel is well-known around Nashville and has grown to be one of its elite trainers.
So how does My FitU™ help me? I wanted to know the same thing. You sign-in to the computer with your log-in and password. At first you answer a series of questions. This allows Daniel’s program to be specifically customized to you. The questions start with the basics like age, height, and weight. Then they get more detailed like where you prefer to workout, home or the gym. Why are you wanting to lose weight and how much? – That question helps determine your meal plan. Yes, nutritional planning is part of My FitU™ too. You’ll have access to hundreds of healthy recipes via Eating Well™. Plus Daniel plans out what your day’s intake of food should look like to help you stay within the selected calorie intake to help you reach your goal. Don’t worry, it’s not scary. If you’re willing to make the changes in your life and to put the effort out, you will see the results!
As you continue to answer the questions My FitU™ is personalizing itself to you. Everything is custom from your fitness calendar and schedule to what activities you’ll do during those workouts. Again My FitU™ is also available as an iPhone App and so when you leave home, just make sure to have your phone, pull up My FitU™ and your meal plan and grocery list or workout will be ready to go. Daily health tips and motivational quotes are shared too. Signing in everyday I liked that it asked how many hours of sleep I had gotten the night before. The other question it asked was for me to rate my level of stress. The few moments I took to step aside and really think about what might be bothering me allowed me to reflect on my life. I often realized that what I was allowing to stress me really was nothing.
Now that you’ve answered all the questions and My FitU™ is set-up for you, it’s off for a workout. Safety first though. A great feature of this program is that at any time you can review their safety measures. They are found under the exercise tab and show you the proper way to do certain exercises and how to properly use certain equipment. This was very handy for me as I am new to using weights.
While working out, if you come across an exercise that you find too difficult to do My FitU™ has a swap out feature. I used this more than once. Due to my knees there are several things I’m unable to do such as jump rope, squats, or lunges. The swap out feature allows you to change the exercise suggested for another one.
My FitU™ fully explains everything. Most exercises even have a video too. Those are quite helpful. There is workout music available too. My FitU™ is great for someone needing that extra hand to guide them along on their journey, and it’s affordable.
My FitU™ offers a FREE two-week trial, with no credit card required. Then, if you’re wishing to obtain a membership after your trial, there are several options.
- Monthly Membership (four weeks) = $20 per month
- Three Months (12 weeks) = $54 total ($4.50 per week)
- Six Months (26 weeks) = $104 total ($4 per week)
- One Year (52 weeks) = $182 total, best value ($3.50 per week)
Since I started using My FitU™ I have completed two 5K’s. Both filled me with quite the sense of accomplishment. With My FitU™ I’m being held accountable for maintaining my journey. I continue to check in every day and doing so keeps me on the right track.
