Nighttime can be one of the hardest times for children. It can also be one of the most frustrating times for parents. If you struggle with keeping your child in the bed then I have found a product that you are going to fully appreciate.
The Uncle Milton My Room Jr — Big Red Rocket is a must have for any child who does not want to stay in their bed. There is actually an entire series of these lights and my son has two of them in his room. He also a Dusty one featuring the favorite character from Disney’s Planes. I love that these lights are helping to solve our nighttime problems.
Tips for Getting Your Child to Sleep in Their Own Bed All Night Long
Have a Calm Bedtime
One of the hardest things at my house is trying to have a calm bedtime. I have four children and it always seems that no one wants to go to bed. Instead of getting frustrated I have been struggling with trying to make sure that the kids have a nice and calm bedtime.
Create a Bedtime Routine
I will admit that I am a bedtime routine failure. I struggled with this one with all of my children. What I eventually learned was that my children had to create their own bedtime routines that would work for them. This is the best way that I have been able to make sure that my children want to follow their routine. It also helps us to avoid having any problems with them wanting to follow through with their bedtime routines.
Make Their Room Perfect for Them
One of the best ways that I can get my children excited about sleeping in their own beds is to let them pick out their own new bedding. When they have sheets and blankets that feature their favorite characters they seem a lot more excited to be sleeping in their own beds than when they are sleeping with something I picked out. Getting your children involved in this process is a great way to be able to make sure that they are willing to sleep in their own beds.
Find Unique Things to Help Them Feel Safe
Each of my children feel safe with different things. My oldest, Andrew, likes to have a lot of blankets at night when he sleeps. My older daughter, Althea, likes to have a giant stuffed bear that she got from grandma. My younger son, Huxley, likes to have the lights on. I have found that the Uncle Milton — My Room Jr lights are a perfect way to keep him in his bed all night long. My youngest, Adeline, likes to have both a blanket and a small stuffed animal. With each child wanting their own thing it has taken me some time in learning how to make them each feel comfortable.
While I will not say that we have mastered the art of staying on our own beds all night long, I will say that we are doing better. We are staying in our beds longer and maybe one day we are going to be able to sleep in our beds all night long.
