Finding the right shows for your children to enjoy can be quite difficult these days. With the help of PBS via their Public Media Distribution company this can be quite a bit easier. PBS is a long standing TV station of great content, not just for children but for adults as well. They have great content, teaching us in a friendly, engaging way that is above the quality of any other station. One such series they are promoting is Kate and Mim-Mim, a show about Kate and her stuffed toy Mim-Mim who comes to life with a few other friendly characters.
Kate and Mim-Mim is a series that follows 5 year old Kate and her stuffed bunny who comes to life as Mim-Mim in her make believe world Mimiloo. The show follows them through their adventures based on real life problems she encounters and solves through her make believe world of Mimiloo. This particular DVD that is being released in August runs 45 minutes with four different stories with Kate, Mim-Mim and her other imaginary friends Boomer, Tach, Gobble and more solving problems via Kate’s imagination, working through teamwork and a positive attitude. They range from Kate’s dad being a hero and saving her ice cream cone, to Kate looking for her cape to rescue a balloon. They also have digital downloads available of other episodes from their previous seasons. Overall the characters and situations are realistic and her imaginary solutions are cute. Her friends are sweet and childish without being overwhelmingly whiny or babyish.
We received the Kate and Mim-Mim: Super Kate DVD that released on August 8th. My son had never seen the show but knew his cousin liked it. He was so excited to watch it and sure enough loved the show. But he was not the only one, his sister and dad liked it. I have randomly heard them throwing out phrases from the DVD and have constant requests to watch his Kate and Mim DVD. He was so stoked that he got to keep the DVD and that it wasn’t a library loaner. We all watched it together and were entertained by the imagination of little Kate. My hubby liked her sidekick Mim-Mim while my son liked Boomer the best and I liked Gobble. I liked that we all liked it, which is hard to find when so many shows are a bit too childish or not engaging for parents, but this one captured our whole household. My husband liked it as much as my son and like their voices and personalities.
