Imagine losing weight and feeling better. Now imagine doing it without feeling hungry or deprived. A dream? No, this is the reality of what I have felt from being on the 21 Day Fix. It is amazing. I love being able to share with you the things that make me feel better and are really helping me reach my personal goals.
I have been on the 21 Day Fix for 10 days and I will admit that I have failed majorly when it comes to working out. I need to get on the ball because I know that working out each day would help me to be able to get in shape quicker. However even without working out I am losing inches and weight. I have actually lost 7.7 lbs in the 10 days since I started the program. I am very impressed with how energetic I feel and with the fact that I am not hungry.
I also love that I get to eat a ton of delicious foods and that I honestly do not crave or want the bad foods. I was a Coke-aholic. I drank tons of coke all of the time and loved it. Now I do not even want to drink Coke at all and I can not believe it.
(This is an example of how I pack snacks for the day when I am going to be tempted with other foods. I have a few sweet things and some things that are salty so that I can make sure that I am sticking to the plan.)
I have cheated a few times and woke up feeling bloated or uncomfortable when I did so I have worked hard to avoid doing that as well. I am trying to find little things that I can do for the rest of my life to be able to stay on track. There are some great things that I have learned while being on the program that I thought that I would share with you.
Give Yourself Small Goals
While you might have huge goals for the future, the small goals are the ones that are going to get you where you want to be. When I started out my weight loss journey I needed to lose 103 lbs to reach my high school graduation weight. My dream weight is to be about 20 lbs thinner than that. 103 lbs sounded like such a huge number that it felt unattainable. I have struggled for the past three years because I have felt so discouraged that I needed to lose so much weight. This got me no where. I would love 10 lbs and then gain it back and I yo-yo’d. When I started the 21 day fix I wanted to lose 10 lbs. I am now thinking that it might be possible for me to lose even more which would be amazing.
(Healthy food can be delicious food too!)
Learn How to Eat Right
I am learning how to eat right. I get to eat whatever I want as long as it is real food. This means that I am choosing healthier options all of the time. I have found that there are some delicious ways to eat anything that you like and that you do not need to focus so much on trying to plan for “bad” things. Instead I am learning to cure my cravings with healthier choices. I love that the program is teaching me about how to eat balanced and the right choices.
(With delicious meals like this, I do not even want to think about eating unhealthy meals.)
Allow for Some Unhealthy Foods
Eating healthy all of the time would be idea. However that is just not realistic. The fact remains that if you want to be able to have success with your weight loss then you are going to need to think about having a cheat meal. I have been able to stick to one cheat meal a week. Not only does this help me eat healthier but we are not eating out as much which is saving us money. Last week my cheat meal was from my favorite Mexican restaurant. I ordered 3 chicken tacos and some guacamole. I ate between 7 and 10 chips and a little guac and could only eat 2 ½ of the tacos. I was stuffed! This was such a change from what I would have eaten before.
Find Healthy Alternatives to Bad Foods
When it comes to eating healthy you can learn to retrain your taste buds. When I am craving a sweet I either eat some plain Greek yogurt, berries, and a little agave nectar or I make a frozen berry smoothie. Both are delicious and quickly cure my sweet tooth craving. When I am craving chocolate (and believe me I crave chocolate since I am a woman) I have found that a chocolate protein shake (Beachbody recommends Shakeology) will cure the craving.
(Eating healthy does not mean lack of flavor. In fact, it means that you can control the flavors that you taste with foods. Your taste buds will awaken and foods will taste better than you could ever imagine.)
Of course now that you have heard me rave about how much that I love the 21 Day Fix, I thought that I would share with you how you can get started on your own journey. I would highly recommend contacting Jackie Watson. She is an amazing BeachBody coach and someone who really will work with you to help you determine how you can fit the 21 Day Fix into your lifestyle. Without Jackie I would have never been brave enough to try my own journey. Jackie can be reached at JackieBeachBody@gmail.com or by checking out her website here.
