Summer time is now upon us. Summer time is a special time for most of us who enjoy the outdoor activities: you know – swimming, camping, boating, picnics, and of course that special treat: ice cream. What is summer without ice cream? Ice cream has become a national favorite when it comes to treating yourself. We all have our favorite flavor ranging from chocolate to vanilla and everything in between. My favorite was chocolate chip, until the mint chocolate chip flavor was introduced. Still today, if given a choice, this is the flavor that I would select.
A very special treat when I was growing up was when my dad would take us out for ice cream. He always took us to the same location. He loved the soft serve ice cream with the curly Q on the top. Well, while those establishments are still in business today, you don’t have to go out of your home to get the same results. Many thanks to the Nostalgia Electrics Company for providing me with a Mix n Twist Ice Cream Toppings Twister to review.
The Mix n Twist machine turns store bought ice cream into soft serve.
Add various foods to your Mix n Twist. I added chocolate chips and nuts. When adding your ingredients, however, it is best to cut them into smaller pieces to fit into the chute of the machine.
Operating the Mix n Twist was simple to do. Place a bowl on top of the drip tray directly below the dispenser. Take your favorite store bought ice cream and place a scoop into the chute, add 1 tablespoon of your desired treat and repeat until the chute is filled.
Alternating toppings and then more ice cream.
Using the plunger to gently press the contents down through the chute, apply with a steady pressure.
The end result is a soft serve ice cream especially prepared with your favorite toppings. You can use a variety of ingredients in your Mix n Twist including: candies, cereal, cookies, fruit, or nuts. However, sticky ingredients such as caramel candies, gummies, dried fruits like raisins and fruits with pits are not recommended for use with the Mix n Twist, as it clogs up the machine. Additionally, it is recommended that you take your store bought ice cream from the freezer immediately before using the Mix n Twist to ensure that the machine works properly. You can also use the Mix n Twist with yogurt or sorbet to achieve the same delicious results.
The Mix n Twist comes with an instruction booklet, which includes loads of recipes for you to try. But use your imagination to make your favorite soft serve ice cream.

What an awesome invention. I love ice-cream any time during the year espec. soft serve. Our local Dairy Queen closes during the winter months with this I can still have my favorites and at a much cheaper price.
I love the stainless steel margarator , and the kegorator fridge. I wonder if you could use water in the keg! Might would encourage children to drink more water.
doan: My first reaction would be to say that I think it would be possible. I checked the web site, but all it states is for you to put your keg in the kegorator. You might want to send an inquiry to the company itself for a more definite answer though.
this looks like a neat little gadget…..
those a re good idea i like the cotton cady one i use to work the carnval and did cotton candy one
That sounds so good. My favorite is pistachio. It would be fun to make the soft serve ice cream at home. The cotton candy looks pretty good too!
I have the Nostalgia popcorn maker – a big hit at family movie nights. This mix-n-twist would be great for outdoor summer events like our upcoming family reunion.
md: Oh, I want one of those Nostalgia popcorn makers. I’m so jealous, my sister has one and she won’t share. Could be the fact that she lives in another state though. This Mix-n-Twist would make your family reunion an even greater event than what I am sure it is already. Thanks for your comment.
Looks great for making all kinds of soft serve combos
