PBS Kids is our go to for screen time in our household. It is wholesome, entertaining, fun and educational. They have shows that my kids love, like Wild Kratts, Super Why and more, that I can feel proud and encourage them to watch. Amongst my kids favorite is Nature Cat, a cat with a broad imagination and interest in the outdoors. I love that it promotes spending time in the outdoors, being inquisitive and above all caring for the environment.
The major reason I love for my kids to watch Nature Cat is because of the way they breakdown environmental issues in a way that is relatable and understandable to children while delivering a great story. They discuss recycling, waste, nature and reducing our impact when outdoors. We enjoy how the different animals get along, work to help each other feel better when needed and have so much fun outdoors together. My son’s favorite is Hal, the dog, while my daughter loves Daisy the mouse. I love how it presents part of nature my children don’t always see in our state and makes them thirst for information of the world around us.
The Nature Cat: Winter Dance Party DVD runs about 80 minutes with four great episodes. My kiddos loved the focus on winter, snow and hot cocoa. My son’s favorite episode was the one when the cocoa mugs break. The scenes reminded him of the snow mountain we had just visited and it made him talk about the texture and how cold snow really is, which tied to the mystery of how the mugs broke. My daughter on the other hand loved the episode, A Jump to Remember, as she loves all things to do with jumping currently. She loved their attempts to make snow and wanted to create a competition of her own, how many times could she jump. She tried outdoing her own numbers over and over. It was a great DVD to keep them entertained and away from the cold, while talking about why it is cold outside and how long winter is around.
You can find this DVD on the PBS shop page currently priced at $6.99 and you can get free shipping when you spend $69 or more. Follow PBS Distribution on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news, deals and episode information on Nature Cat and their other great shows.
