With summer approaching quickly, it’s time to start shopping for swim gear. Everyone in the family loves to swim so we frequently visit the lake and local pools. Some days, we just stay home and play outside in the sprinkler or have water balloon fights. Finding my pre-teen son swim trunks is no small feat, however. He has sensory issues, (especially when it comes to the feel of his clothes), and he does not do well with the netting inside swim trunks. Generally, he just wears his athletic shorts to swim in. I was unaware that net free trunks were an option until NoNetz sent me a pair of trunks to review.
NoNetz created comfortable swimwear for boys and men after talking to hundreds of people and learning just how many guys developed rashes after wearing traditional swim trunks. Believe it or not, they learned that 9 out of 10 suffered chaffing every time they wore their trunks. This gave the founders the idea of creating trunks that did not chafe cause rashes. In place of the mesh or netting, the company’s trunks feature a soft liner. This liner is not only comfortable, it is antibacterial and water-resistant. UPF 50+ and chlorine proof, the trunks resist fading. All of their products are all made in Brooklyn, New York. They offer international shipping and if you are within the United States, flat rate shipping is only $8.
The website is easy to navigate and it offers men’s trunks in sizes small all the way up to 3X. For boys, the sizes start at 6 and go up to a 1 4/16. Each style comes in several two- or three-tone color options for a stylish look. The website also has a size chart right on the page for easy reference. They even offer t-shirts for men made of bamboo. How cool is that?? The eco-friendly shirts have a higher UPF rating than traditional tees for more protection from the sun. They also get softer each time you wash them without showing signs of wear.
NoNetz sent me the boy’s anti-chafe bathing suit, the Splash to review for my son. They feature a 100% brushed microfiber polyester shell and a 100% polyester liner. Right out of the package, I felt the difference in the softness compared to other brands. They are also very stylish and they have a drawstring, which I love since my son often has to pull his pants up because of his virtually non-existent waist. The next step was talking my son into trying them on right away (he hates trying on clothes). I finally talked him into it and he didn’t want to take them off. He was very happy with how comfortable they were. They are also quality made so I am confident they will last through the entire summer.
I was very pleased with the swim trunks and the company overall. Most importantly, they impressed my son. Now that I have found swim trunks he will wear willingly (and not complain about constantly), I am looking forward to summer even more.
