Reasons To Add A Fresh Coat of Paint to Your Home

by Jenn Brockman

Every time the New Year rolls around I get excited because it’s a fresh start to the new year.  I make my New Year resolution which recently had been about my family’s health, but keeping my resolution can be difficult.  Since the New Year has come and gone and many of us are working on ways to keep our New Years resolution going I wanted to share a few reasons to add a fresh coat of paint to your home.

Hey, change feels right, it’s motivating and a great way to keep your resolution going.  Everything from rearranging the furniture, new pillows, a bedspread for your bedroom to beautiful new curtains in the living room can help you feel the change and make it easier to stick to your resolution, but nothing makes things feel new and fresh in my home like a fresh coat of Valspar paint.  My husband and I have always used Valspar paint because they understand what a new coat of paint is capable of.

I can think of plenty of reasons to add a fresh coat of paint to my home.  So if you need a few reasons to race down and grab some Valspar paint here are a few of the many reasons to add a fresh coat of paint to your home.

Easy & Affordable

A new coat of paint is by far the easiest and most affordable way for people to have the change they are looking for in their homes.

Cleanliness

A fresh coat of paint on the walls tends to make a home look cleaner which can be a big motivating factor if you’ve been trying to keep your house cleaner.  New paint will also help to cover up your old dirty walls and baseboards and if you do things yourself it’s rather inexpensive.

Protect your walls

Life happens, and sadly the walls on the inside of our home can get worn.  Painting your walls can help protect your walls.

Increase your home’s value

Did you know a fresh coat of paint on your interior walls can contribute to increasing your home’s value?  It sure can, if you are thinking of selling your home, you may want to consider a fresh coat of paint.  Not only can it increase the value of your home it can also make it more appealing to potential buyers.

Painting is fun

If you haven’t, painted before be sure to give it a try.  My husband and I love to paint, but we like to do it when the kids are at school because the kids would freak if they saw mom and dad having fun with paint lol.  We would probably end up with hand prints on the ceiling somehow.  I don’t know how but with my kids it would happen.  Regardless it’s an awesome way for my husband and me to spend a little time together doing something we both enjoy and even making our home look better while we are at it.

Love your “new” room

A fresh coat of paint can give you a whole new outlook on your home, which can have an impact on your life.  Lighter colors tend to open up a room, pastels can be calming, and bold colors can help you with making a statement.  My husband and I recently added a fresh coat of paint in our bedroom for this reason.  We wanted something calm and relaxing.  So we ditched the old paint and went for a pretty natural color.

It just feels good

A new coat of paint just feels good, especially after the New Year.  I make my New Year’s resolution every year and have found out I stick to my resolution better if I make big changes in my life too.  So I’ll do things like – get my hair cut and colored, clean out my closet, buy a new bedspread, pillows for the sofa, and nothing says change like a fresh coat of paint on the walls.

It’s easy to decide you want a fresh coat of paint. However, it’s not nearly as easy to decide on a particular color of paint.  Honestly, it can get a little stressful.  There are so many different colors to consider along the way.  Seriously, do you know how many shades of white there is?  So heading to Lowes to grab white Valspar paint can quickly turn into a stressful journey if you are not prepared.

The You Do You plate is my personal favorite.  I like the trendy palette with bright colors that are expressive and uplifting.  According to Kim, “These confident, spirited hues encourage you to express yourself in full color anywhere you’d like whether it be a full room, an accent wall, trim or furniture.”

The Valspar Good Company palette is a beautiful collection of rich shades that represent heritage and handcrafted products and materials.  Kim says, “These deep, pigmented colors evoke a connection to our heritage.  We trust the tried and true and that is why they are so welcome in our homes today.”  I have never thought about that but I can defiantly see that in this collection of Valspar colors.
