Finding unique, gender and environmentally friendly products are hard to find. Ruben’s Barn based out of Sweden but handmade in China provides products for small hands that appeal to both boys and girls. These toys will easily grow with children from babies to toddler age. They are sturdy but warm sparking the imagination with their looks, size and varied outfits. Their facial expressions are genuine and bring cheer to any child.
I love that these products are handmade, gender friendly, with organic options and environmentally friendly packages. My favorite part was the gender friendly options. I dislike when my daughter likes something but my son feels left out because a doll is too girlie for him to play with or doesn’t look or dress like him though a part of him wants to or vice versa for my daughter. The boy doll options are just great, still soft but with a relatable face for boys, durable outfits and such soft fake hair. The packaging is very simple, easy to hold the toy in but not excessive as other companies with plastic or cardboard. The doll material is sturdy, well sewn, thick and heavy in the case of their originals and classy for the Ecobud line. It is great that you can wash and dry both of these without any issues.
We received The original Harry, Ark Penguin, Ark Cow and Ecobuds Hazel and loved them all. I was glad both my kids got to enjoy these. My kids and I initially thought the Ark’s were boys underneath their costume until we started switching their outfits and realized to my son’s shock that they were both girl’s. He soon got over it and kept on playing but we did stop calling them penguin boy and cow boy. My son’s favorite though was The original Harry who he renamed David. He did let people know that his former name was Harry and kept showing our guests the collection card as to what he was referring to. My daughter loved them as well. She loved the Ecobuds Hazel during the day, I think because she was lighter to carry for her smaller hands and more similar in shape to her other baby dolls but during nap time she preferred to sleep with the Ark penguin or cow. My son carried The original Harry everywhere! I will definitely be purchasing a few clothingbackups for these as my kids carry them everywhere and they will be getting a bit dirty. I love the soft, sweet smile on each doll and can’t wait like my kids to dress them up with a few more outfits.
