I’ve had a passion for reading for as long as I can remember. I was the girl who sat on the bench with a book at recess while the other kids played. It wasn’t that I didn’t have any friends to play with, it was just that a good book could draw me in and transport me to a different world. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on. By the time I was a teenager, I had quite the collection of books.
Unfortunately, not everyone can just pick up a book to read whenever they want. I recently learned that according to the National Center for Education Statistics, almost 2/3 of low-income American families do not own any books for their children. This saddened me as I could not imagine my kids not having a single book to read. After reading that, I felt compelled to help in some way. I was unsure of what I could do though since we don’t have a lot of extra time or money. Then I learned that Simplay3 had come out with their Sharing Library. I knew right away it was the tool I needed to share my love of reading with my neighborhood.
This wonderful Sharing Library has a simple, yet eye-catching design. It has a clear plexiglass window in the door for a quick glimpse inside. The door opens easily and features a magnetic catch to keep it closed. Made from heavy-duty plastic, the Sharing Library is durable and easy to maintain. It stands 56″ tall making it the perfect size for any yard or indoor space. Like all Simplay3 products, it is super easy to assemble with only four main pieces and the hardware. It is designed to be installed over a 4″ x 4″ post to keep it sturdy.
I fell in love with the library immediately and I couldn’t wait to get it up. I want to give everyone in the neighborhood something to read, so I filled it with books for all ages. At first, I saw some neighbors just kind of checking it out like they wanted to visit it, but were too shy. Within a couple of days however, I noticed a few books missing and someone had even added new books. Now, every morning, my boys race to the library to check if we need to restock. To keep the library full on a budget, I will pick up books here and there from thrift stores and yard sales.
The Sharing Library has truly inspired me and I have ideas for things I am planning throughout the year. For instance, for Christmas I want wrap some books and place them in the library to give others a gift. When it starts getting really cold, I want to place mittens and hats with the books. I am just so thrilled that this one product has given me so many ways to reach out and give to my community.
This Sharing Library would make a great gift for loved ones of all ages. You can pick one up from the Simplay3 website for $149.99.
