There’s no better time than the changing of seasons to revamp your style and make yourself feel fresh and brand new. New season, new me, right?
However, while a new season approaching might make you want to toss out your entire wardrobe to start fresh, this is definitely not necessary. A few very simple swaps and switches here and there are all it takes to completely change up your style and make you feel on-trend for summer.
Here are a few tiny, simple changes that can make the world of difference.
Get New Glasses
As a staple, daily wear item, spectacles and sunglasses can start to feel old and boring pretty quick. A simple and easy change to make is to get new glasses, and this can completely change up your whole style with very little effort.
Swap your simple square frames for bold, big eyes glasses or cat eye frames. Change out your simple black pick for something glamorous like tortoise shell, bright red or even pink frames. The options are endless – just make sure they suit the shape of your face.
Try Out Hats
If you’re not usually a hat person, you can completely change up the look of your outfits by adding one in.
Throw on a cap for a sporty, athleisure look. A beachy sunhat will give you a carefree yet glamorous style. A hat can be used to dress up (or down) just about any outfit – even your most loved and favourite ones can get an injection of new vibrance. Plus, as a bonus, you’ll be taking better care of your skin.
Ditch the Denim
We all love the basic T-shirt and jeans combo, and in terms of style and comfort, it’s not going anywhere. However, the concept of wearing jeans anywhere and everywhere is so last season and if you were never a fan of denim in the first place, you’ll be pleased to squeeze out of them.
There are certainly other types of pants to wear, that you’ll probably find way more comfortable than your usual denim anyway.
Try linen trousers, flowy skirts, and other soft, comfortable pants that can be dressed up or worn casually with your usual T-shirt and sneakers.
Swap T-Shirts for Button-Ups
If you want to instantly elevate a look and give it a more sophisticated feeling, simply swap out a plain white T-shirt for a plain white button-up shirt. There are countless ways to style a button-up shirt and you could make the exact same item as formal or casual as you please.
Paired with jeans or a skirt, over a crop top or even a pretty bralette, button-up shirts can change or elevate your style in absolutely no time at all – making you look effortlessly cool and elegant at the same time.
Test Different Fabrics
Material plays a major role in the way your outfits come together. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new fabrics for a new look and a different style.
Try silks for an expensive, luxurious look. Linen has a more natural feeling that will add some boho flair to your usual style. Cotton is the summer go-to for comfort and casual vibes and you can add more stretchy, nylon-type leggings to your wardrobe for that Sporty Spice look.
Bust Out the Bags
Something as simple as a handbag can completely change your look too, and give you a fresh, new feeling. Invest in a new handbag (or three) for the summertime. In the warmer months, think beach bag style – woven basket type bags and linen totes.
The bigger your bag, the better, to carry all of your summer essentials: your sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, body sprays, and everything in between. If you’re into smaller bags and purses, grab something fresh and cute with a long crossover strap for extra comfort.
Try a New Hairstyle
You might not be interested in buying new items for your wardrobe, but still feel like you need a change. A new haircut is a perfect way to do this and a great way to ring in the new season.
For the summertime, cut your hair shorter, add some layers and maybe even lighten up the colour for a summery glow. This will give you a new, fresh look, and also leave you feeling much cooler with less heavy locks weighing you down and covering your neck. If your hair is usually short, try out some hair extensions for something different.
