Six Pool Safety Tips To Follow This Summer

It’s here; summer has officially started and the kids are eager to be outside, play and enjoy what they have left of their summer. Of course, I have plenty of fun outside adventures planned, but with four children things can get expensive, so I invested in a pool for the kids this summer. Which has turned out to be one of my kids favorite things to do this summer is play in the pool. Of course, pool safety is critical, especially because our summer days are getting well over 100 degrees now.

Six Pool Safety Tips To Follow This Summer

Here are a few pool safety tips for you and your family to follow this summer.

1) Supervision – I did purchase my children a pool they can touch the ground in without any problems, but my youngest is still too young to be left unattended for any length of time. Supervision is essential to keep kids safe in the pool.

2) Clean area – Before we put up the pool my husband and I cleaned up the area where we set up the pool. It not only helps keep the girls curious minds at rest, but accidents from happening. It’s hard to see things once the grass gets too long, and accidents happen. Keeping things picked up help keeps you and the kids feet safer.

3) CPR – If you are a parent learning CPR might be something to add to your list. Hopefully, you never have to use it, but it can be a valuable bit of information in your daily life.

4) Establish clear rules – Set clear rules for everyone to follow such as no running, diving, etc. Make sure your kids know the rules and understand they must be followed.

5) Keep everyone hydrated – It’s HOT, make sure everyone stays hydrated by drinking plenty of water this summer.

6) Protect everyone’s skin – Don’t let kids go outside for any length of time without sunscreen and make sure they always have waterproof sunscreen on when in the pool. You’ll also want to ensure they reapply as recommended because one application will not last all day. Also don’t let the clouds fool you, kids still need sunscreen on if the clouds are out.

This summer we have been using Banana Boat® to keep everyone’s skin safe. I even keep a bottle in my handbag for those unplanned outings.

Keeping the kids happy this summer takes planning. Did you know that 1 ounce of sunscreen is required every two hours to be sure your family’s skin is protected from the sun? As parents, we understand how important it is to use sunscreen to protect our family’s skin from sunburns, long-term effects that are not always visible, such as skin cancer and skin damage.
