SoapSoxKids was founded by Ray Phillips, who at the time was working as a Program Director at a treatment facility for children who had experienced some type of trauma. As most people know it is quite difficult to help a child who has been through a lot for their short amount of time on Earth, and that’s what brought Phillips to great SoapSox. There was a child he was carrying for who would refuse to even take a bath without his best friend, a stuffed animal. That is when the idea became that why not make that small stuffed animal into a washcloth that this small child can have fun with in the bath. Of course not knowing how to produce a product like this, Phillips was lucky to have many friends who he was connected to the network. Alvin Uy is Co-Founder and VP of SoapSox as he leads a creative agency that helps develop products, which includes known brands like Hasbro, Disney, and Mattel. All baby and kid companies that are well known. You may have even seen SoapSox on Shark Tank. After 2 years of tireless work SoapSox was finally brought into the world in 2013, and since then has become the next generation of wash clothes.
We were lucky enough to review 2 SoapSox friendly animals, brand new to SoapSox, Scorch the Dragon and Minnie Mouse, I personally love Minnie Mouse and my son loves dinosaurs, so these were a perfect addition to our family. Of course, as these are new found friends, they are meant to stay in the bathroom, I have a feeling my son will want to take his new friend outside the bathroom. SoapSox’s work by adding either a bar of soap or liquid soap down the throats (yes it sounds horrible!) or on the back of these fun little animals. As promised these little fun washcloth buddies suds up really nice! Unlike a normal washcloth you may need to add extra soap, so great job on making soap stay and last longer! My only drawback is that these friendly buddies are HUGE! The size of a small sized plush doll and are rough, so if you don’t have lots of room you may need to make a small spot in the shower for these guys to hang dry. While Scorch’s opening is in the mouth, Minnie Mouse is located underneath her bathing suit in her back, now it seems like Minnie’s soap opening is a tad bit smaller than Scorches and way more difficult to put in. So I would love to see how SoapSox can fix this.
Using SoapSox allows more play time and bath time all in one, which makes the time go by fast and you’re not spending more time than necessary to get your little ones cleaned up. SoapSox buddies come with a small string to attach to your small bath toy to hang up after use, to allow proper drying, I would love to see the string attached to the buddies instead of having the parents attach it. Another great feature is that SoapSox buddies are machine washable so your child will have their best friend for a long lime (until it wears out and needs to be replaced.)
You can buy SoapSox at BuyBuyBaby, Target, BabiesRUs, BedBath&Beyond, and Nordstrom. For 1 SoapSox the price is $12.99, for a 2 pk it is $23.99 and for a 3 pk it is $33.99. Or you can but Scorch or Minnie here! SoapSox also just added their new collection of Disney SoapSox, and you can check them out! They seem a bit pricey but they are no ordinary wash clothes or sponges, so I believe the price is just right, and with a vast variety, I am sure you will find the perfect friend for your child(ren) or for yourself!
