The kids and I have been having fun with some projects around the house, and I thought I would share them with you. If your kids love to paint, you might try our awesome kids craft ideas, and if you are currently decorating maybe one of the diy room decor ideas. They are just fun, and I will be sharing my finished bathroom soo, which I am very excited about. It’s going to look great!
My kids have started to get a little bord, so we have looked for a few new craft ideas for kids to keep them busy, because when they are bord bad things tend to happen, lol. Until Catie is finished with summer school, we are stuck home a lot during the day, but I have known the girls wanted to start painting. So we decided to make our own canvas, which turned out great.
My mother-n-law gave us several old paintings that she did not want. Since we didn’t hang them in the house, and I didn’t have canvas to stretch out over them I used an old sheet. I stretched the sheet out over the old canvas, and stapled it to the sites of the frame so the old sheet was acting as a brand new canvas for the kids to have fun on.
We took the sheet canvas into the kitchen, set them up with some acrylic pants, paint brushes, and let them paint their little hearts out.
This is the beautiful work of art they came up with, and they have both found something they enjoy doing.
We only have 1 more old canvas left, but making your own is seriously easy, and you can do it with scrap wood you have lying around the house. All you need is the wood, staples, staple gun, and canvas, or even an old sheet or t-shirt will work. Once the kids become professional artists of course you will want to invest in canvas for them, but until then I do not know a child alive who wouldn’t have a blast painting on our homemade canvas!
My husband and I are redoing our bathroom. As soon as we get back from our cruise, we will be hitting it hard. I have already purchased everything we need – paint, shower curtain, towel racks, shelving, and decided since I had this awesome Chevron Pattern FrogTape® that I was going to play around a bit and make a few of my décor items for the bathroom. I have a lot more to do, and a few last changes on some of the items I am showing you, but for the most part you can see the direction we are going, and the colors we will be using. Oh, and yes we will be using the Chevron pattern ShapeTape™ on our bathroom walls too.
I decided to go with a blue, dark brown, and the tile in our bathroom is close to the same colors as the light brown in the pictures. All those little décor items only cost $5, and I even added a little color to the shelving in the bathroom, which is going to look awesome once everything is up. However, I do think I am going to be adding a little more of the Chevron Pattern on the shelving, as well as on the glass items.
I purchased a small pot and 12 glass vases on sale at our local dollar store.
First, I did the post, which is super easy. I looked for a post which was dark brown, since that is one of the colors I am going with, applied the Chevron ShapeTape™ going down the sides, painted the gap, allowed to dry, removed the tape and this is what it ended up looking like.
I love it, and am planning to go back, apply more Chevron ShapeTape™, leaving a thin gab, and painting it blue. I only want a little blue, on the pot, and I think it will help pull everything together nicely.
Next up is the glass vases. I did several of these, and have several more. I really just wanted to play around with them, and see what they looked like so I could decide which was I wanted to run. I also have a few large vases I want to use, as well as mason jars.
The vases were EASY to make, and you could do this with anything. Just like the pot, I added my ShapeTape™ to each vase, leaving gaps, and painting using the blue and browns, and removing the tape.
Same thing with the shelving, and this had to be the easier of all of them. I applied the ShapeTape® to the shelve, painted, and removed. Pretty easy, but I do want to go back and change it a bit. I think I want to make the dark brown Chevron Pattern thicker.
