Growing up, Easter was always synonymous with sweets. My parents always filled our baskets to the brim with chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, marshmallow chicks, and filled eggs. Of course, as a kid I never complained about the candy overload, but as a parent, I prefer not spend the day dealing with sugar highs and meltdowns. Instead, I look for pool toys and other items that will last a lot longer than candy. This year, SwimWays and Coop Sports has helped me put together an Easter basket that not only will my son love, but that will also make spring and summer more fun.
Aqualiens™ Transforming Sea Creatures™
Your child will love watching Aqualiens come alive in the water. This water-activated dive toy changes into an awesome sea creature as it falls through the water. Just toss it in the pool and watch as it magically transforms. It is available in four styles: red shark, blue shark, pink seahorse, and aqua seahorse. Aqualiens are available at Toys“R”Us, Amazon, and Canadian Tire for $9.99. The pool toys are recommended for ages 5 and up.
SquiDivers are soft, flexible dive toys that add excitement to pool time. They wiggle their way to the bottom and the brightly colored tentacles float upright so kids can easily see them under water. They also have holes for placing on the fingertips for even more fun in and out of the pool. These pool toys are ideal for play, practice diving, swim training, and more. Each pack includes 3 SquiDivers for ages 5 and up. You can find the at Toys”R”Us and Target. There are multiple styles available including shark, ray, and fish.
Funny Face Swim Goggles™
Kids 3 and up will love wearing the Funny Face Swim Googles when they hit the pool. The novelty googles are comfortable to wear thanks to the soft design and easy-button adjustable strap. They are also leak-resistant to keep water out. The googles come in three styles: stars and stripes, soccer balls, and butterflies. You can find them at Academy and Swimways.com for $7.99.
Funny Face Swim Masks™
Your child will be the hit of the pool party with a Funny Face Swim Mask. With soft construction, a leak-resistant design, and an adjustable head-strap, they keep little ones comfortable in the water. You can choose from three trendy styles: white shark, hilarious mustache, and magical unicorn. They are available at Academy and Swimways.com for $9.99. They are for ages 3 and up.
My son loves to swim, so all of these toys are perfect Easter basket fillers. They are definitely well made and I am confident they will last him all summer and beyond. They are also a wonderful choice for party favors, birthday gifts, or just to make pool time even more fun.
COOP Scatter Dodgeball™
I remember playing dodgeball in gym class. It was sometimes scary and sometimes painful, but for some reason, it was also so much fun. COOP Scatter Dodgeball is the safe alternative to the classic game. It is easy to play and it accommodates 2 to 6 players.
How to play
Each person takes two wristbands of the same color and they form a circle around the ball. One player rolls the dice and the player wearing the color that matches what is face-up on the dice grabs the ball as the other players scatter. The thrower then attempts to hit another player with the ball and if hit, that player must give a wristband to the thrower. If he catches the ball however, the thrower gives up a wristband. The game ends when one player has all the wristbands.
The game includes:
- 1 foam dice
- 1 sting-proof dodgeball
- 12 wristbands
The game is recommended for ages 5 and up and you can find it at Target, Amazon, and Toys“R”Us for $19.99.
My son love playing dodgeball with the neighborhood kids, but it seems like a fight always breaks out when one of them ends up getting hit too hard with the ball. With Scatter Dodgeball, this is never a problem because the ball is much softer and it does not sting. This makes the game great for younger kids. If you play outdoors in a large area, it is a good idea to mark boundaries to keep players within a close proximity.
