How we send our kids back-to-school can have an impact on how the school year goes. As parents, it’s our job to make sure our children head back-to-school ready for success.
There are different strategies you can use to get your kids organized and excited for the school year, and you know what will and won’t make your kids excited for the school year. Here are a few ideas that might help get your kids excited to start a successful school year.
Planning – In my opinion, one of the most important tricks to sending the kids back to school ready for success is planning. It doesn’t take long and can save you a lot of time and energy.
Get them excited about after school programs – My kids love talking about after school program once they realize school starts soon. Between dance, sports and the excitement of going home with friends on the weekend my kids return to school pumped about school and the programs that follow each day.
Create a place for kids school backpack and school supplies – Creating your child’s on space to keep their backpack, and school supplies will help make them excited for the school year to start and assist them to in staying organized for the school year. It might even help you by keeping all the backpacks and books off the floor. One of my favorites is this DIY Chalkboard Shelves & Backpack Rack project we did a few years back.
Come up with a reward program before they start school – If you talk with the kids to come up with a reward program before school starts it can help them start the school year excited and ready to excel.
Take them back-to-school shopping – I know, taking the kids back-to-school shopping doesn’t always make things easier, but it will help get them excited to start the school year. It’s amazing what taking them to CVS to pick out their own folders can do for a child. Most of the time I’ll get some school supplies while I’m shopping alone and take the kids with me to get the final few things, they love it and it’s not too stressful for me.
Fashion show – Allow your children to put on a fashion show by trying all on their new school clothes and showing off each outfit. It will help them to decide what they want to wear their first day back at school.
Pictures – Do you take pictures of your children on the first day of school each year. I know I sure do, it’s fun to look back at them. The kids love seeing how much they have changed year to year.

Yes, it’s a convenient destination to get quick and easy prints of your kids on their “first day of school” or at least in the first few weeks of school if your kids have already started and you didn’t capture the first day back.
