The kids are out of school, and everything changes, from your daily activities to the things you’re eating, but that doesn’t mean you can’t stay active and healthy this summer. I’m focused and going to stay healthy this summer, and here are a few things I’m doing to keep my mojo going and stay active and healthy this summer.
10 Tips to Stay Active and Healthy This Summer
Here are a few tips to help you stay active and healthy this summer.
- Plan fun activities that keep you active – We’re home a lot, which means we have to get creative if we plan on having fun. Rather than sitting around watching TV or playing video games we try to plan things to keep up active for the larger part of the day. Things like summing, gardening, crafting, DIY projects around the house, building forts, and of course I let my kids pick. Things can get interesting, but there is never a dull moment. Be sure to look for fun and free things to do while the kids are out of school. We have a few free things to do in New Mexico and beyond if you want a few ideas.
- Take advantage of everything – From folding clothing to brushing your teeth, benefit from that time. While I brush my teeth I place, fold clothing I do squats, and, of course, hang one item up at a time. It means a lot of extra steps, which is making me more active. There are plenty of simple little things in your daily life that will help you become more active.
- Park as far away as possible – When you go to the store, don’t stress finding that perfect parking spot. Park as far away from the store as possible so you get some extra steps in during the day.
- Zig zag lists – When you make your lists zig zag around the store, so you have to walk more. Believe it or not shopping can burn some calories, lol.
- Avoid stress and have fun – Don’t let stress get you down. The kids are home for summer and it’s more valuable time you’ll never get back. So be crazy, make silly faces, laugh, and enjoy this time you’ll never get back.
- Drink water – Lots of water does a body good.
- Eat several times a day – Don’t wait and eat an enormous dinner. Eat several small meals during the day.
- Plan before traveling – Be sure and think about snacks before traveling. Rather than buying junk on the road plan out your trip and bring along the water and healthy choices.
- Think before going out with the kids – We visit the parks a lot, which means the kids are going to want something to snack on and drink. We choose water and some of our favorite Gold Emblem products from CVS.
- Choose the right snacks – We’ve loved the CVS Gold Emblem products because they are super yummy, easy to take along, and they have something for everyone in the family.
