Well as promised, I took a ton of pictures on our Walt Disney World Vacation in Orlando, Florida! I wanted to share some about our awesome trip, not only was the trip of no cost to us, IT WAS THE BEST TIME EVER! If you have a chance to get away with or without the kids on a Disney World Vacation, I highly suggest doing so. Neither one of us had ever been to Disney World before, growing up neither one of our families was able to take us on awesome vacations such as Disney World! This really was the time of our life, there was so much to do and see there was no possible way to see all of it.
I will be posting a lot about Disney World Vacations on my new travel blog called Mom’s Top Vacation Spots, so be sure to stop by and visit from time to time I would love to have some familiar faces stop by. I am super excited about the new travel blog, this means plenty of traveling will need to be done! Yepie, one of my favorite things to do with my husband and children is travel and see the wonderful places that are our there. I have 4 children so you know we will be doing this on a budget, lol. Anyway back to the Disney World Vacation,
Let me tell you how our trip started out, it was hell to be honest. We missed our 1st flight, which sucked so they pushed us back we crossed our fingers there would be room on the next flight. Guess what? No room, surprise we had to fly into Dallas at 5:30PM and there was not a connecting flight to Orlando, Florida until the morning.
We ended up having to rent a room at the airport for $258, not including tax. I honestly, thought taking advantage of people was wrong but I guess when you are desperate you will pay whatever you need to and I really feel like we have no room to complain because our trip to Disney World was free. Doesn’t that happen to people often, their flight is delayed, they miss it something comes up and they end up stuck at the airport? HUMMMMMMM, yea take advantage of stranded people isn’t that crap? Anyway I will stop venting now and move on, I could go on and on about our venture at the airport, how much things are and how rude people can be but this was a vacation for us and I will not let those things ruin if for us.
We were finally able to get on a flight to Orlando, Florida at 7:15AM and we were off to start our vacation, at this point I was wondering what else was going to go wrong. I tend to worry, WAY too much once something goes wrong. The flight over was amazing, beautiful and perfect the clouds were mesmerizing and i was able to cuddle up next to my husband, alone. We have not been on a vacation alone in at least a year or two, so it was nice to be able to just cuddle up next to him. I still think it is crazy, how fast a plane actually goes we made it from New Mexico to Florida in about 5 hours, driving it would have taken us 26 hours. The airports themselves were not too bad they seem to have a nice system going to move people along pretty quickly.
We are finally here, we were met by an awesome driver that took us to the Dolphin Resort on Walt Disney World Property! On the way over he gave us the rundown of how things work where to go and how to get there, since we would be careless for the trip. Once we arrived to the hotel, a sudden calm feeling came over me, I knew we were not going to run into any more snags, and if we did it would not be until the trip home. I was not ready to focus on going home yet either, Shawn and I feel in love with Florida.
The hotel was perfect, we were on the 9th floor and had a spectacular view, it was breath-taking and the residents of Florida were extremely nice. It was the tourists that were assholes, don’t figure. The Dolphin Resort was amazing as you can see in the picture
the view is awesome along with the resort itself. You can walk down to the bus stop and catch a bus to any park you want to go to, walk down and jump on a boat to some of the parks, walk down the Disney World Boardwalk, or simply hang out at the resort. I was flabbergasted to see how large the Dolphin Resort building is, the banquet/meeting/ball rooms hold well over 700 people and there was 8 that I know of.
We did choose to leave and see the sights, however there would have been plenty to do at the Resort had we chosen to stay. They offer awesome Swan Peddle Boats for their guests, an outside bar, beach volleyball, and so much more. We could have simply stayed at the Resort and not once been stuck without anything to do.
Before we left I was extremely worried about not having a vehicle the whole time we were there, but it was never a problem. Buses come about every 3 minutes and boats come about every 15 minutes, they take very good care of anyone staying on Walt Disney World Property. We never once had a problem getting around and never once had to pay for any of the transportation provided, staying on Disney Property is definitely the way to go. I honestly cannot tell you how much the rooms were at the Swan and Dolphin Resort, but there are tons of hotels on the Walt Disney World Property that offer the transportation and are quality hotels for very reasonable prices.
The first park we went to was The Magic Kingdom, and magical it was. The first thing you see as you enter the park is the amazing castle we all know Disney for. I have seen the Cinderella Castle on television time and time again, there is something about seeing it in person that makes you realize just what a magical place Disney World is for children of all ages. Shawn and I visited for the 1st time in our 30’s and we acted like children, missing our children and wishing they were there to share the experience with us. Shawn and I had a wonderful time alone but it is hard to not wish you children were there every time you turn around you see something they would love, a character, ride, there is always something that reminds you of your children.
If you are thinking about taking an amazing Disney World Vacation I say do it. Shawn and I build memories we will have to last us a life time and we now have a better idea of what we need to do when we take the children to Disney World in October this year. I am very glad that we went alone first, I really wasnt sure what to expect and Disney World is nothing like I imagined. I read up on it and thought I knew what to expect but I really did not realize how long it took to get from one park to the next, see the sights and make it back to your hotel. The Resort that we stayed at made it very simple to figure things out, so the next trip to Disney World will be better planned now that I have an understanding of how things work, where everything is and what to do.
The only tips I can give you if you are planning vacations to Walt Disney World is really check on the way things work. Some things I wish I would have looked more into were
- Buses – How are you going to get around, how often do they run, where, and so on.
- Costs – How much is food while you are Disney World Property. Make sure to look into the meal plan that you can purchase with your vacation package, I had several people tell me that was the way to go.
- What time parks are open until – On certain days a Disney Park will stay open for what is called extra magic hours. During extra magic hours only guest from the Resort hotels are able to ride the rides and enjoy the park.
- Have a plan – The parks are huge and unless you have tons of time you probably will not be able to see and do everything. Make a plan of where you want to go first and what you do not want to miss.
- Make sure you do not need to book in advance at some of the restraints. Just to make sure you are able to eat there.
- Know the hours that the parks open and close, different parks have different hours and they close at different times on different days.
- Don’t be scared, long lines normally move pretty fast. They really have it set up very organized and things tend to run very smooth. I am sure in the summer season when the place is booming they can take a while to move, but they have it set up so people are pretty much consistently getting on and off rides.
- If you child wants to wear a Disney Princess dress, for the love of god buy one on your way. They are extremely expensive at the park.
- Check into the Fast Pass, they are worth the extra money.
- Epcot Them Park is Amazing, make sure to take a trip around the world and check out every nook and cranny, if you choose to visit Epcot.
- The most important tip that I can give you is REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN!
