The Wellly Walk, if you haven’t heard of it, is a date for kids to jump in puddles rain or shine in gratitude that they are able to do so. Furthermore, on this date you can register your school, church group, etc. and raise funds for research that will help to fight pediatric cancer. Cancer can stop a boy or girl from the gift of jumping in puddles themselves. The Ty Louis Campbell (TLC) Foundation and idea for the Welly Walk surfaced from a boy Ty’s simple desire to jump in puddles like his favorite character Peppa Pig once he was Cancer free, but unfortunately did not get his chance. As parents we sometimes dwell on the day to day items but sometimes we have to step back and look at all the great things we do have and let our kids get messy and rejoice in their health.
Unfortunately, Ty passed, but this April 1st, the Welly Walk will be taking place through the U.S. by parents, churches, organizations, etc and anyone that wishes to take part in this event to raise awareness and funds to for pediatric cancer research. You don’t have to raise funds but if you have a large group, why not? Any group that donates or raises more than $50 is in the running to have Peppa Pig visit them personally, there are also 4 other prize packages filled with books, plush toys and more. Sign up at the Muddy Puddles page for this great cause and possible prizes. Any amount of help one can provide to this foundation can help so many children now and in the future.
Your Welly Walk can be as diverse and unique as you want it to be. It can include identifying plants, rocks, singing and definitely lots of jumping in puddles. For ideas, instructions on where to submit funds, how to enter for a chance to have Peppa visit your group check out the Welly Walk Kit PDF and this informative video. My children will jumping in puddles themselves and will be joining a local group. Already my daughter is prepped with the umbrella we received and practicing her puddle jumping, not sure if the weather will be on her side but out there we will be.
Rain or shine, get out there and enjoy your healthy child. If you are fighting cancer know we are here supporting you and helping fight in our way. Post up your ideas, photos, fund groups on the Muddy Puddles Facebook page.
