12 Reasons Why Our Grandparents ROCK

Grandparent’s Day is coming up September 13. It’s the day we celebrate the people that survived our parents as kids. Their reward is being able to spoil their grandkids and send them home! My parents are now grandparents and they are the best. They don’t live in the same town and with the grandkids growing so quickly, they rely on pictures to keep track. • Early to bed– Grandparents usually head to bed by 9, so that means you can stay up late cause there is no way anyone will hear you over that snoring
• Poor hearing– Diminished hearing comes with age and grandparents tend to suffer from it. So, we can watch tv and dabble in all the goodies in the fridge without getting busted.
• Sorry sight– Out of sight out of mind at its best. After grandma makes that huge batch of brownies, she won’t notice if you take a piece the size of your head.
• Gifts galore– When they were my parents, they were never to keen on giving gifts just because. Now that they are grandparents they’re always packing some sort of fun stuff for the grandkids.

• Dillydallies and dodadds– Visiting our grandparent’s house is like visiting their own personal museum. Each item has a story, just be careful at to which item you ask about. It may yield a long winded story that has been told and heard a million times.
• Food fiesta– Grandmas, and sometime granddads, are usually cooking up something great. And, since grandkids need to grow up big and strong (no matter their age) they want to feed you all sorts of that great stuff.
• Birthday bundles– Birthdays are great as a kid and our grandparents love birthdays and cards with a check for $12. Plus, they always handwrite loving words and leave little kisses on the inside.
• Inside scoop– Grandparents have some awesome stories, we’ve established that. But the best are the stories about our parents when they were kids. No escaping the stories of bed wetting and getting caught dancing in the mirror wearing a tutu and ski goggles.
• Intelligent individuals– Each of our grandparents have lived, loved, and learned. They have acute street smarts nd vast knowledge. Take heed when they give advice because they likely lived it.
• Tech tragedy– It may take grandparents a bit longer to figure out their smartphone and its an awesome sight to watch them startle when it starts ringing and vibrating. “Gee Whillackers!”
• Sweet sayings– They say things like “gee whillackers,” good golly,” and “don’t be a stick in the mud!” Grandfolks sure ain’t no wet blankets!
• Dentures– How cool is it to see grandpa take out his teeth and use them as a puppet? Well, I guess it’s pretty horrifying for some!

• Love, love, love– The best thing about grandparents among all is that they love us. They care for us and love like there is no tomorrow and they hold a special place in our hearts.

These are some funny and true reasons grandparents are awesome and they are definitely rock starts in our lives. That’s why it’s important that we celebrate them all year, especially on September 13, Grandparent’s Day.
