Have you been trying to lose weight recently but feel like it’s pointless because you can’t manage to drop the unwanted pounds? It’s frustrating when you can’t lose weight no matter how hard you try, but don’t give up. Hang in there because it might be a simple fix. There are plenty who feel your pain and there are things you may want to STOP doing if you want to lose weight.
10 Things To Stop Doing If You Want To lose Weight
Here are a few things to stop doing if you want to lose weight.
1.) Skipping out on sleep – Your body needs sleep! Did you know that losing sleep can throw off your hunger cues? Think about a time you didn’t get enough sleep. If you paid attention, you might have noticed you are hungry more often. Getting enough sleep might not be the magic weight loss pill but it’s going to make your weight loss journey easier.
2.) Alcohol
Whether you drink a beer after work or get drunk a few times a week you might want to consider cutting WAY back on the booze. Not only is it not good for you, but alcohol also has empty calories, and it often makes one hungry. Since we don’t always make the best choices when we drink you might end up eating 1/2 large pizza and waking up feeling guilty.
3.) Don’t skip meals
It’s so easy to zoom out of the house in the mornings and forget breakfast or work through our lunch break. You may benefit from planning your meals ahead of time. In many cases, people who eat less than three meals each day end up eating more calories during the day. If you are skipping meals, STOP!
4.) Stop with the excuses
If you want to lose weight, and you are serious you need to find time to workout. There will be days you are busy but don’t skip the exercises because you’re too busy. Have backup plans for those busy days, maybe you could walk during your lunch break or have a workout routine you can do when you get home.
5.) Drinking calories
Have you ever stopped to see how many calories soda has in it? If not, you can find the calorie details of any food or drinks using Calorie Details, and it should help you track your daily intake. Try drinking water and if you must have coffee try it black.
6.) Want to lose weight, STOP sitting at your desk
I recently changed my desk from a sitting desk to a standing desk. They have desks you can buy or be on the lookout for, so I’m going to share how I turned my sitting desk into a standing desk in the next week or so. Standing is so much healthier for you than sitting all day.
7.) Stop being so hard on yourself & bashing your body
Don’t be hard on yourself. This is going to take time and bashing your body isn’t going to make anything easier or motivate you and more. Think positive and you’ll get further.
8.) Stop doing exercises you don’t like
If you don’t like it why do it? Besides how long will you continue doing something you don’t like? Find something you do like there are so many different ways you can get your workout it. There is no reason for you to do something you don’t enjoy that will likely result in failure. Set yourself up for success, have a positive attitude and make things fun. Weight loss is a lifestyle change if you want it long term.
9.) Track everything you eat
There are tons of great apps that can help you track everything you’re eating. Seeing everything in black and white can often be an eye-opener. If you want to lose weight, you might consider trying to track everything you are eating if you are not already.
10.) Track your steps
Get yourself a pedometer and track your steps. For example, tracking what you’re eating and seeing your steps in black and white might help you make a few necessary changes.
Are you doing any of these things or do you know of anything I missed that you would like to tell people to stop doing if they want to lose weight? Leave us a comment.

Good ideas!
I don’t trust any pill for losing weight. Excercising is key. It requires more for office people, that’s all.
I lost a lot of weight just stopping the soda. I bought water, and when I went to grab a soda, I had water instead.
What a great list. I’m especially guilty of not sleeping enough -like most Mommas- and skipping meals. As a stay at home mom it’s easy to get caught up in caring for the kiddos and “forgetting” breakfast or lunch. I know it’s a bad habit.
Thank u for sharing. The hardest part for me is skipping meals and drinking soda. Its definitely the top two things I need to work on.
That’s some great weight loss advice, and some things maybe people didn’t know about, thankyou for sharing this.
