What makes a superhero? Have you ever stopped to think about that? I mean really what makes someone a superhero! Sure Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest of the gang are excellent! I love watching the movies and checking out the comics, but they are not real superheroes.
What Makes a Superhero?
In my opinion, parents are superheroes but since it’s almost Mother’s Day we’re going to focus on all the moms out there as well as the dads filling in for moms. Being a parent is by far the most rewarding experience, but it is also the most time consuming, draining, and stress experience at times.
- You have a baby – To start off, how awesome is it that we create such amazing, perfect little people? If you ask me, that’s a super power itself and let’s not even get into childbirth. It’s without a doubt a super power! You don’t see any baby Hulks running around do you (thank goodness, but still moms are cooler)
- Saying NO, without hesitation – Yup, moms, can say no quicker than their kids can finish the question. It’s true, think back a bit, before having children, did you find it harder to say no? I know I did, I used to be so worried about what everyone would think and their feelings. Well after a few years of practicing on the kids I got NO down! I don’t care so much about what others think if they cannot understand my reason for saying no, it’s because they don’t have four kids lol.
- Ability to go from super sweet to OMG RUN quicker than Iron Man can put on his suit – Oh come on, admit it the kids are arguing, you are having an awesome day until the arguing gets on your last nerve, it takes milliseconds for you to morph into a mommy who means business. See this is the mommy that the kids know they cannot get away with things around. So they sit up straight, talk quietly, and get along until mom has morphed back into the mommy they can drive nuts!
- Superheroes can find courage and strength at the drop of a dime – As a mother, you find courage and strength that you didn’t know you had. Strength not to bang your head on the walls because nobody is listening and courage not to bang their head on the walls for not listening lol. You also find the strength to make it through some of the hardest of times and the courage to smile and laugh with your child through it all. I know the only reason I smiled laughed at one point in time was that of my daughter, and she made me smile a lot, which helped me realize just how lucky I was. I found strength and courage in my little girl.
- Run if you ever feel the need to release you inner mama bear – Suddenly Iron Man, Captain America, and all those big tough guys are not so terrible, trust me Mama Bear wins every single time. She’s kind of like Hulk, but she ONLY turns into mama bear when she feels the need to protect her children and if that ever happens you are our of luck unless you can outrun Mama Bear, but it’s doubtful. Mama Bear is not to be messed with.
- Stronger stomach – I say stronger stomach because I suck at this, but I can do anything needed to take care of my own and don’t even think about gagging. However, this doesn’t work with all yucky stuff lol, but I can do whatever needs to be done for my child. It’s a big deal to me, a super power!
- Selflessness – I used to be super selfish, I can admit that. However, I knew I was a changed woman when I saw my daughter because suddenly someone came before me. Her needs were and always will be my priority. I often find myself forgetting about my myself because I’m happy seeing my children happy, suddenly that’s enough.
- No scared to ask questions or get help – It doesn’t matter what it is we figure it out. If we need help with something, we know who to ask or where to turn. We only want the best for our children, so it doesn’t matter if it means finding time to read a book or helping our kids develop the foundation for all future learning. I know, that last one sounds like a lot, but it’s not. See, I recently learned about this app called Vroom, and I think you are going to love it too! Plus Vroom would love to have you swing by and celebrate these amazing superhero and everything they do for and with their children with them.
Helping Children Develop The Foundation for all Future Learning with Vroom
There is new science that shows that children’s first years are when they develop the foundation for all future learning. So every time we connect with them their brains light up and half a million neurons fire at the same time soaking up everything we do and say. This is why you’re going to love JoinVroom.org.! They help to turn those shared moments into brain-building moments. These brain building moments can be during dinner, bathtime, or just sitting on the couch. There is a FREE app called Vroom, and it provides you with tools to help you nurture your child’s growing mind.
Vroom was designed to give parents and caregivers simple tools that turn everyday activities, like meal time and bath time, into brain building moments. We want to empower parents and caregivers like Camellia to interact with their children during their daily routines, engaging them in activities that require no additional time or resources but have outsize long-term benefits. Check out what’s going on inside your baby’s brain in the below image.
Vroom is a FREE app that helps parents create brain building moments in the time you have to be a brain builder. Vroom works to enhance the things that you are already doing to help spark those new ideas. You can learn more about Vroom by visiting their website at JoinVroom.org.
Plus, you are not going to want to miss this touching YouTube video! It’s an amazing story about Camellia and Cammie, who became a family only a month after Cammie was born. It’s a Vroom story that will be torn to your eyes and remind you about the important role we play in children’s lives. Those ordinary things you do – cook, clean, etc. are a SUPERPOWER and have a lasting impact.
Kids notice more than we often realize and you are their superhero!
The fact of the matter is PARENTS are super hero’s with superpowers because every single day they do something extraordinary by helping build the foundation for their child’s life of learning. We hope you’ll join Vroom in celebrating these amazing caregivers and everything they do for and with their children.
