This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Most of you know my son has cerebral palsy and recently getting him around has become more stressful because he’s only getting bigger. We used to be able to put him in the back seat of the Tahoe without any issues, but he’s getting much too big so we are starting to look into a wheelchair accessible vehicle as well as other mobility equipment that will not only make our job easier it will improve his quality of life because we will be able to go and do more with him.
There is nothing worse than not being able to take your children to Walmart because you can’t get your handicap son in the car without risking dropping him. When it’s just me home, I can’t go anywhere because I am scared to death of putting him in the car and dropping him. It wouldn’t be too bad, but he stiffens his legs when you try and put him in the car that makes it tough so I play it safe and wait for my husband to get home.
We go on walks but he’s a child, he wants to get out of the house and man he loves going for a cruise and listening to music. I have always known we would need to turn to someone like The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association to not only make our lives easier but improve his life and I am so thankful there are places out there that focus on improving the lives of those with disabilities because they deserve to live, and their disability shouldn’t be a sentence.
Seeing my children smile makes my heart skip a beat. Knowing I can’t take my son to the store with me when he asks me to take him breaks my heart. I can’t begin to tell you how special moments like the above image of him fishing are. He was so happy in this picture, he caught the only fish of the day and 90% of the time his pole was tangled around the weeds, but he didn’t care because he was at the river fishing with his family.
It’s easy to take freedom and mobility for granted; it’s something we do daily without thinking, but there are people out there who do not have independent mobility and are in a wheelchair like my son. Wheelchair accessible vehicles and mobility equipment can give them more freedom.
The NMEDA difference begins with their Quality Assurance Program, which guarantees you a personal Accredited Deal so you can receive expert attention regardless of the mobility challenge. Did you know that all the NMEDA mobility equipment dealers are required to be QAP accredited? This helps to ensure the highest standards in mobility equipment installations. The unique training program is how the NMEDA assures safety, quality, and electromechanical integrity of the product(s) that are delivered to their customers. NMEDA mobility equipment dealers offer all sorts of products – wheelchair ramps, hand controls, transfer seats, seating solutions, steering aids, shooter lifts, special acceleration and breaking solutions for adaptive vehicles and more.
What I have found beneficial about working with an NMEDA QAP dealer is without doubt the in-person evaluation, 24-hour local emergency roadside services, and specialized training of equipment to name a few. Just think about how wonderful it would feel to help your loved one get on the road to independence, even if it’s as small as something as being able to go to Walmart with friends and family, it’s independence that will help provide them with a better way of life.
