Happy National Dog Week everyone!  I love all my dogs, they each hold a special place in my heart and since my sister moved in her dogs to hold a special place in my heart.  Since it’s National Dog Week of the September 20^th, I wanted to share a few ways to show your dog you love them!

In honor of National Dog Week, I wanted to share a few ways to show your dog you love them!  After all, they are furry members of our family! 1.) Talk to your pup I don’t care what anyone says, they can understand you!  They might not be able to pick up the phone and say hey mom, don’t forget to buy me some Beneful dog food on your way home, but they do understand you and can without a doubt know how you are feeling.

2.) Don’t forget the brush Oh yea, dogs love to be brushed.  Be sure to find their favorite spots!

3.) Play with them My dogs are lucky, they have four children to play with, but it’s also important for adults to spend time playing with their dogs.  Maybe some Frisbee, fetch, or in my dogs case chase – I chase them!  Yup, it’s how it has always been, they grab a ball and run from me lol.

4.) Walks, walks and more walks I honestly don’t even think my dog’s care where were go walking, as long as we go as often as possible.  The more walks you go on, the better your dog will get at walking on a leash! 5.) Go for rides I know all dogs might not enjoy going for a ride, but mine LOVE IT!  We often drive down to the river and let the dogs swim around for a bit, they’re so silly and have so much fun.  It’s defiantly one of their favorite things to do.  Car rides are awesome unless of course they are going to the vet lol.

6.) Feed them good Just like us, dogs need to eat healthy food to be happy and healthy.  Be sure to think about your dog’s food, the cheapest isn’t always the best.  I mean, you wouldn’t feed your kids chips all day when you could get some fruits, veggies, protein, etc. in there would you?  Then feed your pups well too and they’ll be happier and healthier.

If you’re like my daughter, you’ll feed them out of your favorite lunchbox in mom’s chair, so he doesn’t have to put his head down lol.  It’s funny, the dog in the above picture is Trip.  He was supposed to be my dog, but when my daughter just turned three, and Trip was an itty bitty puppy, he decided my daughter would be his person.  They’ve been best buds ever since.  Well, maybe more like brother and sister because Trip is the reason that Mattie got into trouble her first time, lol.

Mattie used always to go into her older sisters room and take her makeup.  Well, I told her NO MORE or she was going to get into big trouble.  I explained to her that it was stealing, and stealing was bad.  Later that day I find Catie’s lipgloss on the floor in the living room.  Of course I call Mattie, she tells me she didn’t do it and tried to blame Trip.  Yes, the dog.  I know, I didn’t believe her for one second.  Well, that was the very first and one of the only times she got into serious trouble.  A few hours goes by, and I am walking by Catie’s room, notice Trip is in there, continue my way into the living room and headed for the kitchen.  I made it to the kitchen and forgot something so I headed back to the living room and busted Trip brining Catie’s lip gloss out of her room and I kid you not he sat it down in front of Mattie on the floor while she was watching cartoons and went on about his business.

Mattie didn’t even notice, but I did and to this day I feel horrible, lol.  I can’t count how many times I have told Mattie sorry for that day… If that is not love I don’t know what is lol.  See he was mad at her because she tossed his ball over the fence, and we couldn’t get it until the neighbors came home, lol.  I love animals; they make my day so much brighter.  Between dogs and kids our day is NEVER dull and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
