Oh man, the subject of weight loss.  Who’s ready to talk about easy weight loss tips, especially since I’ve been stuck at home more now than ever.  The kids are back in school, and I have had to get creative with things to keep me headed in the right direction.  I also recently tried Mamma Chia for the first time, and LOVE how it gives me a nice natural boost of energy that lasts all day, because keeping up with four children, everything they have going on before and after school, the house, work, and all lifes daily tasks is hectic.  I have really enjoyed Mamma Chia products so much I just placed an order for more, because I love how they make me feel. Before we talk about the world’s healthiest whole food, Chia seeds and I wanted to give you a few tips for losing weight without leaving the house or visiting a gym.

weight lossNot everyone has the time and/or money to put into a gym membership, and I’m one of those people.  The last thing I’m going to do is put money into a gym membership I’m never going to use. With the right attitude, and willingness to try new things – even if you look funny doing them – you can lose weight without ever leaving your home.  Sorry, but being busy is not an excuse.  Trust me, it’s one I used and abused myself.  You don’t have to go to the gym to lose weight, but you do need to be 100% invested, willing to get creative when you’re up and moving at home, and out with the kids.

If you’re ready to start losing weight, regardless of where you are, who you are with, what you are doing, or any other excuse you can come up with here are a few tips to help you lose weight at home.

Plan – Start by planning each day.  How much do you want to get done?  How much time do you have to dedicate to being up and active.  Also be sure you have an easy way to track all the calories you consume.  I’m not big on counting calories, but it helps make you more aware of what you are putting in your body.

Raid your fridge, cabinets, and panty – First things first, pig out! NO, I’m totally kidding.  Better yet, go through your fridge, pantry, and cabinets to get rid of anything you think might be tempting.  The first few days is typically the hardest, your body isn’t used to only having certain foods, and it can crave those things you used to eat a lot of – cokes, candy, pasta, etc. You know, all the stuff you shouldn’t be eating.

Talk to your family – Tell you family your plants to lose weight, and ask for their support.   Having your families, support not only makes the journey easier, but it’s empowering and motivating because they believe in you.  Which can help you believe in yourself, it’s a good feeling to be loved by your family.

Turn that frown upside down – Did you know you burn more calories if you are happy when you work out?  Smile big, put yourself in a good mood when you start moving.

Take the stairs – If you go anywhere and you have the option, always take the stairs.

Parking – When we pull up to the grocery store we typically look for the closest parking spot.  Why not change things up and park as far away as possible, it’s extra walking, and it adds up.

Track Everything – I have a Fitbit, and it’s the best thing I could have done to help keep me on the right track.  Not because I was unmotivated, but I wasn’t keeping track of things.  I was adding things up in my head, and it never worked.  The Fitbit is on my wrist, and every time I grab something to eat figure out how it will affect me – will I go over my allowed calories for the day?  Should I eat a big sandwich for lunch and skip the snack, or should I eat a light lunch and have an afternoon snack.  I also pay more attention to which foods I am putting in my body, read labels, and pay better attention to the things I should have in the first place.  After using my Fitbit for about a week I totally understood why I wasn’t losing weight.   Everyone is looking for a fast way to lose weight, but weight loss happens when you eat fewer calories than you burn – There is no magic pill.

Cleaning never felt so awesome – So you want to burn some calories, and the house needs cleaned.  Even if it doesn’t need cleaned I am sure you could think of something that needed a good spring cleaning.  If you’re currently cleaning for an hour a day, stick to that hour, but do things that require you to get up and move.

Customize – Make your own 30 min workout plan.  Whether you swap your workout and cleaning around or not, be sure to have something that you can do from anywhere – squats, cardio, lunges, etc.  You want to be sure you add some cardio to your workout plan to get your heart pumping, and remember to have fun!  Smiling can change your attitude for an entire day!

Start DIY Projects – Keep yourself busy with some diy projects – painting, redoing furniture, or anything else you’d like.

Do laundry – Do you have never-ending loads of laundry?  GREAT, because you can tone those legs while you’re on laundry duty.    Rather than bending over to grab clothes out of the washer and dryer, do states to get the clothes out.  You can also hang and fold your clothes from the dryer, and get your 1 piece of clothing at a time.  It’s a great workout, and makes laundry kind of fun.

Organize – Plan to organize your house little by little.  Keeping yourself busy, up and moving will help you burn calories.   Be sure you stick to your eating pans.

Dance – My youngest daughter is home with me all day everyday, except for a few hours on Tuesday and Thursday.  We do all sorts of things, but the weather is getting cooler, which means we cannot go outside as much.  It’s oaky, we find plenty of other things to do, like dance.  This is probably the best way to burn those calories, and smile the entire time.  My 4-year-old daughter can out dance me anyway of the week, but this mom is learning her movies, so she better watch out or I’ll end up with the dance crown back in my court, lol.  We really do have a dance crown, and I cannot.

Rearrange furniture – Moving the furniture is a great way to work those muscles, but it’s also a great way to feel good about the direction you are going.  If you’re just starting your weight loss or management moving the things can be a reset/refresh button.  Out with the old, in with the new!

Take a ride on your air bike – While your laying on the couch watching a movie, taking on the phone, or whatever else you do on the while you are laying on the couch, ride your air bike.  Seriously, lift your feet up and pretend like you are riding a bike.  It’s not hard, but so much better than only sitting there.

Mamma-Chia-Family-Shot-9-MedThink Healthy – When you eat, think healthy.  When you plan your day, think exercise.  You might not be at the gym for two hours lifting weights, but there are plenty of ways you can be active and still lose weight.  Plus, when you think healthy you’ll remember to give Mamma Chia a try.
