Have you ever wanted to take a ride on a submarine? For many the answer is no. Cramped, stuck underwater in a tin can, fear of radiation, etc. Okay, let’s not get too dramatic but it doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. I mean, I’ve seen Das Boot and The Hunt for Red October and none of those really looked like fun. But then again I have also seen 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and that looked pretty cool. Comfy and plush and some really cool windows to look out at the undersea world. That is a submarine I would like to ride in.

Well I’ve got news for you, thanks to Atlantis Adventures you can actually experience a real submarine without the fear of getting depth charged into oblivion.

Have you ever been on the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride at Walt Disney World? Imagine that, but the real thing! You board the submarine from the transport ship just like in the movies, through the hatch, down the ladder and to a seat looking out a huge porthole. Don’t worry, the porthole doesn’t open and is three inches thick (it is a submarine after all). For the next hour you get to experience a world unlike any other. You glide along the ocean bottom up to 100 feet below the surface looking at spectacular fish and marine life of all sorts that make their home among the natural and artificial reefs. Sharks, beautiful tropical fish, sea turtles, even the occasional dolphin. You get to see them all up close and personal while the guide tells you all about the amazing marine life. For an hour we glided through the ocean, all three of us entranced by the beauty. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon in Paradise. A pretty amazing way to create memories of a lifetime if I do say so myself!

I think I’d love to do this once, just to experience it. The ocean is so beautiful and I doubt I’d ever try scuba diving so this is the next best thing.

I did this in Hawaii and it is amazing! I had a bit of sick feeling when first going down (when I could see the water splash on the windows), but once submerged it was smooth sailing. It was such a fun way to see the ocean and its inhabitants.

That sounds like fun. I’d give it a try. once! I am not fond of small spaces, or the water, but it would be a once in a lifetime experience.
