The Construction Zone

Unless you plan on a DIY renovation, then you will need to hire a general contractor to complete the project. You should check references and ask for bids when you are seeking a contractors services to ensure that you find the right professional for the job at hand. In order to save a few dollars you may want to complete the demolition yourself. You should also compare the cost of purchasing the materials yourself over having a general contractor supplying them for you. In most cases a general contractor will receive a significant discount off of the cost, but may also mark up the prices. Taking every scenario into consideration is essential.

Labor

Quality manpower costs money. The people that will be working on your home will have to be compensated for their time and services. You should keep this factor in mind when you are creating your renovation plans. The more details that you want, the higher cost that you will incur.

Fixtures

One of the biggest costs associated with a bathroom remodel is the fixtures, including the tub, sink and toilet. If you are able to maintain the same floor plan, then you will spend much less on the overall plumbing costs. You also have to consider the costs of the fixtures themselves. If you are set on the glass vessel sink then you should pick the most standard toilet that you can find. You need to also factor in the premier tubs that you want to install and figure out how much labor it takes to get them installed.

I THINK THE Worse thing is if you only have one bathroom in the house to begin with!! I once needed my taps replaced because of a leak and the guy told me he had to tear everything out including giving me a new tub? seriously? He quoted me in the thousands for relacing taps!!! got my BIL to do it for $100 instead – you have to be seriously aware of scammers like that and whats worse I’m not in the city so they can hold you hostage when you do need them..I often worry about my mom, esp being so old and living so far away from the city herself!!

I’d love to have my bathroom renovated into a minimalism style but it costs so much I can only dream of it. Looking at modern bathroom photos makes me drool.
