School is out for summer, and the last thing I want my kids doing is spending the summer inside watching TV or playing video games. Messy Outdoor Summer Activities for Kids
Here are a few of our favorite messy outdoor summer activities for kids.
Water gun painting
My youngest daughter LOVES making her daddy water gun art. It’s super easy and all you need is a squirt gun, plants, and a good aim. Just fill your water gun up with water, add your favorite color paint, and start shooting.
Water Paint Balloon Fight
I know, I told you they were going to be a messy, but it’s totally fun. It’s one of my kids’ favorite things to do when it’s hot out, lol. Kids love the messy stuff; and this is messy, fun, and super easy. Just fill water balloons with water and add a quick squirt of paint before tying them shut.
Anytime we let the kids have a water balloon fight they have friends over, which means I normally end up making a few hot dogs on the grill. I don’t know what it is but every child I know loves ketchup but they can’t seem to keep it off their shirts lol. Glow in the dark slime:
I don’t let my kids make a whole lot of anything messy in the house if it is warm out lol. To make the glow-in-the-dark slime, all you need is glue, starch, and glow-in-the-dark paint. Slip & Slide
Okay, so my husband got the kids started on this one. I’m not sure where he got the idea, but the kids love it. Set up the slip and slide, turn on the water, and get the slip-n-slide nice and wet and spray on a bunch of shaving cream. Yes, it’s fun, slippery, and messy. Where can you go wrong? Everything all fun and games until someone comes inside with grass stains, DAD! Yes, my husband decided to go down the slide in his pants and white shirt. Bake off
We all love mud pies, right? Let the kids have a bake-off to see who is the best mud pie baker of them all. Make your puff paints
This is super easy and totally messy. Mix glue, shaving cream, and food coloring to make your puff paints. FYI-do this outside, and allow the puff paint to dry if you want to save the artwork.

When we camp-out in our backyard from time to time, I can’t wait to make glowing chalk to play with. It’s super easy to make. All you need is water, ice cube trays, glow in the dark paint, and a plaster of Paris. Take the bikes and trikes mud bogging
