I’m excited to share this sponsored post about potty training because it makes me even more excited about having another one. Most of you know my husband, and I are planning on having one more little one after we’re done with our house. Well, it’s almost done, and we finally have an extra room for another baby.. YEPIE!
Potty training was kind of exciting for me as a parent. Not necessarily that I wanted to get my children out of diapers, but it’s a huge milestone for our little ones. Based on my experience there are a few things that parents can look for to decide whether their child is ready to potty train or not. Here are a few tips to help you know if you’re child is ready to start potty training or not.
5 Tips To Help Know When Your Toddler Is Ready To Start Potty Training
- No dirty diapers says the toddler – If your child doesn’t like wearing dirty diapers anymore it’s a good sign they might be ready to start potty training. Mattie would wake up from her nap asking to be changed because she didn’t like the way her wet diaper felt.
- Seems interested in the potty – I have not been alone in the bathroom since this happened LOL. It’s the truth. Mattie started asking questions, wanted to see how the toilet work, and noticed her older sisters were using the big girl potty. This is a great time to introduce them to the potty and encourage them to start using their big kid potty.
- Tells you when they are going potty or hiding to potty – Out of all of my children, only Mattie would tell me when she was going potty.
- They hide to use the potty – If they start hiding to go potty they want privacy, which is fine, but it’s a good time to start introducing them to the potty too. Tell them they can have their privacy in the bathroom. It might take a few times, but they will eventually understand.
- You notice your child’s likes being a little independent – I still don’t like that my baby is growing up, but I have to deal with the fact she is and with that comes her wanting to be more and more independent. I noticed when she was ready to start potty training she started liking being more independent, like playing for longer periods alone and wanted to do more things for herself. BOO, but it happens.
