Cleaning burns calories – walking, scrubbing, bending over, folding clothing, etc. Start thinking of different ways you can turn your daily chores into a workout routine. A few things I like to do are:

9 Ways To Turn Cleaning Into a Workout
1.) Turn it up – Whether you’re cleaning the bathroom or cooking dinner, it’s always been a great way to get me moving. I like to put on some upbeat music – rap, rock, hip-hop, it doesn’t matter as long as there’s a good beat – and start cleaning. Not only does music help me move a little more, it helps my brain focus on the music so I hardly notice I’m cleaning as well as sing, dance, and even elevates my mood. Music is an awesome way to make cleaning more fun and get you moving more than you would without it.
2.) Squats as I’m folding clothing – When I bend down to grab a piece of clothing from the dryer I’ll do a squat.
3.) Put up one piece of clothing at a time – I might not do this with my children’s clothing because their room is on the other side of the house, but my closet is right around the corner so I can easily do a squat, place a shirt on a hanger, and head to my closet. By the time I’m done, I’ve done a decent amount of squats.
4.) Raise those calves – Next time you’re washing dishes try adding a few calf raises to your routine. It’s not too difficult, doesn’t take much extra coordination and it doesn’t slow you down!
5.) Dancing burns calories – Next time you’re sweeping, mopping or anything else for that matter dance like nobody is watching. If you dance as awesome as I do you’ll definitely want to take advantage of everyone being gone, lol. Regardless it makes the chore more fun and helps you burn a few extra calories.
6.) Wax on wax off – Yes, it’s a great way to get your counter tops clean and work on those abs and arms. It’s easy to do, and it’s great for your arms and abs. Oh, and it leaves the countertops looking pretty fabulous too. I try to do 10 to 20 circles with each arm and you’ll want to apply pressure to really clean those countertops!
You can also do this with your windows!
7.) Use those stairs – If you have stairs in your home, don’t save everything for one trip. Make several trips upstairs! Remember the goal here is to make chores more fun while getting a little workout in.
8.) Keep up with your housework – Plan out your week and leave a little something for each day – dishes, load of laundry, and get creative!
9.) One, two, three GO! – Okay, next time you’re cleaning your bathroom set a timer and clean as fast as you can. You’ll want to be sure you have products that work in your favor, lol. The last thing you want is products that can’t help you beat your best time.
I know we’re talking about turning cleaning into a workout, but it’s so important to remember to eat and it’s so easy to skip a meal because you are busy cleaning or running the kids around. Be sure and plan for the busy moments when you don’t have time or don’t want to stop to make something healthy for breakfast and lunch.
I recently tried ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bars for the first time and they are super yummy and perfect for those moments when you’re too busy to stop for a meal. If you need a bar that is gluten-free ZonePerfect® Perfectly Simple™ bars are a great choice. One of my personal favorite things about the ZonePerfect® bars is the variety like Chocolate Almond Raisin, Chocolate Caramel Cluster, Chocolate Chip Cookie Doug, Chocolate Mint and more.
ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bars are a great way for me to make sure I eat breakfast. Thanks to back to school and my busy lifestyle I have a bad habit of skipping breakfast if I don’t keep something quick and easy around. ZonePerfect® is a great way for me to make sure I eat breakfast without eating something terribly unhealthy.
Oh, and one more thing! It’s probably the best part of all! Right now there is an AWESOME in-store deal when you purchase ZonePerfect® at Target! When you purchase 3 ZonePerfect® products you’ll get a FREE $5 gift card! AWESOME, right!
