Happy World Sight day! I’m sure you already know how important our vision is and how lucky we are to be able to see, whether we wear glasses or not. It’s not something
Do you have good vision? If so you’re one of the lucky ones. If you wear contacts or glasses, you understand how much better a simple eye exam and a pair of glasses can improve your life. Take a moment and put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Rather than waking up in the morning and reaching for your glasses or putting in your contacts follow your same routine without your glasses or contacts. Just take a few minutes without your clear vision and experience what your routine and observe how blurry vision can affect some fo the simplest tasks.
When you can see the world better, it opens doors. People often can’t believe how much better they can see the world once they have an eye exam and are given a pair of glasses or contacts to wear. When you help people in the world see better, you are helping the world live better.
The World Sight Day
Join us and help UNBLUR Life for the 1.1 billion people who are out there and need glasses to see the world learning but lack access by visiting OneSight.org/Unblur. Helping isn’t hard, and it doesn’t cost much to help change someone’s life. Did you know that $10 can contribute to providing a pair of glasses to someone who is in need and $30 can help to provide free eye exams and glasses to someone who is in need? Yes, it most certainly can, and you can help by donating here.
When I think all those children out there in need of glasses so they can not only see the world more clearly but also do better in school, I think about my daughter and her first pair of glasses. The difference in Vayda from one day to the next was amazing. Once she was able to see she started doing better in school, less wasting time and not only paying attention during class more but understanding the work that was being put in front of her. Well, DUH she could finally see what was being put in front of her. Poor child, I can’t imagine trying to do something that you couldn’t see and not know that was why you didn’t understand the assignments. Gosh, it has to be tough for kids who need glasses and don’t realize their eyes need a little TLC from the eye doctor and a new pair of glasses.
Seriously, can you imagine not knowing that you couldn’t see well and try to get good grades in school? I can’t imagine; I know it was hard for Vayda and we caught hers fairly early because my husband and I make sure to get the kids regular eye exams.
Being an adult isn’t and needing glasses isn’t always something we know either. An eye exam typically lets us know that we need glasses and once we put on our glasses, the world is a whole lot brighter. It was for me, and to be honest; I don’t know how long I needed glasses before I got them. I’ve always taken my kids but put off my eye exam until later which you know means I’ll probably never get to it unless something happens, like snow in July lol. Man, I wish I wouldn’t have put it off because the world looks a whole lot better from behind my these glasses.
