Getting fit, feeling good, and looking great! Those are on almost every single person’s agenda and one point in time. There are so many ways to incorporate fitness into everyday life without sweating it out at the gym. There are numerous types of exercise that can be done without equipment or weights. I wear my SlimSation pants that feel like workout bottoms, but look like a nice pair of slacks. They have a great control top and a huge variety of colors and styles. Also, with the busy lives that we have it can be hard to find time to work out. I’ve done some digging, asked some friends, picked my doc’s brain, and surfed the internet to compile the 10 quirky and fun exercises to do anywhere without hitting the gym.
Incorporating fun and original exercises into our day can make working out so much easier. Some of these workouts can be done during other activities during the day too. So, whether you are running errands, picking up the kids, cooking dinner, or taking that much-needed shower, these exercises will help blast fat and get you fit for the upcoming summer. Check out the 10 quirky and fun exercises to do anywhere without hitting the gym.
- Canned Food Bicep Curls
You don’t have to head to the weight room to get a good muscle building session. There are plenty of items at home that can serve as free weights. I like to use the biggest size of canned goods as I can find. While I’m watching television, preparing dinner, or waiting for water to boil, I grab the heavy cans and do curls, triceps, straight lifts, and whatever else I can think of. By doing fast continuous reps, it tones and leans to beautifully cut arm muscles.
- Tooth Brush Stroll
This is something I thought about while watching my boyfriend. He has a habit of walking around his house while brushing his teeth. It may only be a few minutes, but it’s moe steps than you would have had just standing at the sink. Also, another advantage is it saves on water as long as you turn it off while you walk around the house. If you need to spit then just take you toiletry cup along with you, or a plastic one, your choice really.
- Shower Time Squats and Calve Raises
This is something I started doing in High School. I played all sports, but volleyball was my go to pastime. I needed to improve my vertical and my leg strength. So, when I got home from my work out, I was still pumping adrenaline. I hopped in the shower and continued my work out with a few sets of slow, intricate squats and calve raises while I was in the shower as to not slip.
And, when you do them slowly, more resistance is being applied and muscle is being built. Also, you’re in the shower so no worry about that sweat! After you are done, slip into a bight pair of SlimSation Ankle Pants to keep the happy mood going.
- Morning News Crunches
Working out in the morning is part of my routine. But, before I get started on my cardio/muscle/yoga workout I need my coffee and news. I do slow, steady sets of different styles crunches while I catch up on the happenings of the world. I get informed, drink my coffee, and fit in a warm up for my work out later on.
It’s a win-win-win kind of situation. Before, I used to do all this in my short and a t-shirt, but since I started wearing SlimSation pants, I prefer to doing my crunches and strecthes in those. The stretch with your body and I can wear them through my next work out too.
- Kiddo Arm Lift Raises
As most of our readers know, I live with my sister and her family. My nieces and nephew are in the house and I help to cook, clean, and babysit. This sometimes cuts into my workout time so I have devised a plan to make up for it and have fun with my niece simultaneously. Madisyn, the youngest at 5, weighs a little under 50 pounds and is the perfect size for arm toning. I let her lock her arms around mine and I lift her up, raise her up, and hold for 5 seconds then repeat until I can’t lift anymore.
She has an awesome time with Auntie Rema, I get to hang out with my MadDog, and get some toning for my arms at the same time. But, when my niece isn’t around, I grab the big 40 lb bag of dog food and do lifts with that before dinnertime!
- Car Pool Butt Flexes
Heading to work and getting stuck in traffic is truly taxing on the psyche and can feel like a total waste of time. That’s when you take advantage and do something productive. Do some flexes for your bum, holding them as long as you can until you feel a burn, relax your gluteus maximus for a few seconds and then repeat. If you work in an office or sit a lot at work (or at home) throw in some butt flexes when you get bored. Another great thing about the SlimSation pants is that with the comort they are multifunctional. This means you can be comfortable, getting a bum workout, and be ready to step into the world looking fabulous. You’ll be surprised at how effective just that little bit can be.
- Water Jug Lug
Many people nowadays drink bottled water, but they get the single 12 or 16 ounces bottles. Instead of toting around those little bottles, go for a big 5 gallon jug when you need to refill your water supply. Taking the 5 gallon jug to get filled is a nice arm and leg work out just by carrying it because it weighs about 40 pounds. But, you can add to it by doing a few quick squats and calve raises as well.
- Grocery Store Walk-a-thon
Heading to the grocery store is a headache and if you are anything like me, I try to get in and out of there as quickly as possible. But, my sister and I go to shopping for groceries either super early or really late to avoid the crowds. This makes it less stressful and we can take our time. So, when we have the time, we grab an item on our list at one side of the store and then pick another item that is completely on the other side. We do this for most, if not all the things on our list and one night added 5,000 steps to our step tracker! I stayed comfortable running all over the store by wearing my SlimSation pants.
- Laundry Room Laps
Laundry Room Laps are similar to the grocery store walk about. The difference is you do this one at home. Laundry Room Laps is pretty much folding your laundry 2 or 3 items at a time, putting them away, returning to the laundry room and folding another 2 or 3 pieces of clothing and putting them away. Another great way to add some steps to your day. Again, you can wear you SlimSation pants while you’re washing all your other pairs because I know just one pair is not enough. The comfort, styles, colors, and designs are fantastic and the control top helps for those days when our bodies decide to retain every fluid it comes in contact with.
- Playground Park bench Triceps
This one is for all those Moms and Dads that join their kids at the playground, but are not “cool” enough to participate. While sitting on the bench, watching your kids play is a great time to engage in some triceps dips. Also, pushing my niece on the swing is a great arm workout.
I hope this helps because it is one of most favorite and can really be done anywhere, for however long. If you have tweens and teens, try out some SlimSation capris for the summer. The breathable fabric keeps the body cool and the loose fit saves the skin from getting sticky.
There you have it; 10 quirky ways to add activity to your day. Each day holds new challenges and the fun part about life is finding a way to manage them. I was lucky enough to try out the SlimSation Chevron Design Anklet Pants and I admit that I was truly impressed. I thought a control top would make me look pregnant, but quite the opposite. It slimmed the small pooch that I now most other women struggle with to.
I try to stay positive each time I wake up even on my worst of days because along with a pair of SlimSation Pants, a smile, and a good attitude are the best accessories a person can put on in the morning. So wake up, get, smile, and get moving everyone! I’ll meet you there!
