It’s that time of year again, the kids are back in school. Each of the kids have moved on to a new year and new challenges. Learning new things and enhancing known elements are the joys of going to school. One of the not so exciting aspects of back to school for most kids, and some parents, is homework. It’s no fun to finally get out of school just to get home and have an assignment to do or a big test to study for. But, with all the moans and groans, it has to be done. Here are 5 tips to help kids study and be sure to get some snacks, like Gold Emblem Abound snacks from CVS, because they come in handy, you’ll see.
The television is great entertainment and upbeat music is wonderful for dancing, but not so much for study time. Setting the right mood for the kids when they study is important for their focus. Play some classical music or some nature sounds while children study. It will keep them from getting distracted and the lack of background conversation allows the brain to stay on the task at hand.
2.) Avoid distractions
My niece has a hard time staying focused when she is doing her homework or studying for a test. She tends to be distracted by other people in the room or even a toy that is within arm’s reach. She doesn’t study well in her room because she loses the homework motivation and tends to go into relax mode. So, we found it best to sit her at the kitchen table with no other distractions to keep her on point. It’s important to find what works best for your child and what room or area is an ideal study spot.
3.) Take breaks
The brain is like any other muscle in the body. When it is being used and getting a work out, it gets tired and needs a rest. So, when your children are doing homework or studying and you notice them becoming uneasy or distracted, let them take a small break. This gives their brain a chance to refocus and when they sit down again to their work they will have an easier time studying and doing their work.
4.) Keep hands busy
My niece, like I mentioned, has a hard time staying focused and concentrating. We have found a couple ways to help her, like keeping her hands busy. When she is playing with a small hand ball or even chewing on her pen, she can focus better. Also, she loves Gold Emblem Abound Blueberry Lemon Almond Crunch snacks from CVS. I just poured her a small bowl and let her munch away and she did the rest. A healthy snack and a problem solver hard at work!
5.) Snack time, study time
Just as the brain needs a rest, it also needs fuel. The Gold Emblem Abound line of snacks and food are incredible. They are delicious, healthy, and provide the nutrients that growing kid’s brains need to get homework done. The kids in our house love all of the snacks, but they are pretty quick to grab the Blueberry Almond Rice Pop Clusters. I have to admit I hide a bag for myself because I know they will demolish it!

Very helpful tips! But in the long run, they have to focus themselves and make their own priority.
Great tips. I think the key is consistency. Whatever time, whatever location, just keeping it the same every day can make it a habit and can instill good studying behavior early on.
